Santana's POV:

Today was the unfortunate day that I have to go see my Dad. Once a month I am obligated to spend a weekend with him. I usually find ways to cancel but this time he wasn't having any of my excuses.

"Santana your dad is here!" my Mom shouted up to me from downstairs. I took a deep breath before I made my way downstairs.

"He's outside in the car waiting" She tells me and places a loving kiss on my temple.

"I hate what he did mom, why am I forced to see him?" I ask, like I do pretty much every time I have to leave.

"He's still your dad honey, he loves you"

I nodded my head and pulled my backpack over my shoulder, looking back at the black car as I locked my house. I walked over to the passenger side, where the door was already open, waiting for me to close.

"Kept me waiting long enough" He joked but I could tell he was somewhat annoyed. I rolled my eyes at him but didn't comment on it.

The drive to his house was mostly silent, beside the obligatory asking how I am and what I've been up to.

"I need to let you know that some things have changed since we last saw each other" He glanced to me quickly, keeping his sole focus mainly on the road "I've met someone, she has kids-"

"Will you cheat on her too?" I snarled, angry that he hadn't told me sooner, livid he's been starting a new family when he destroyed ours.

"I'm not like that anymore, I was going through some stuff and I hurt your mom in the process of it all, I hate what I did, but she wouldn't let me try make it better, I tried for years, there's a point where I had to let go" He pulled up to his house, I didn't speak after his rant. I saw a grey car parked on the driveway, a car that wasn't there before.

"Be nice" he told me and huffed out the car.

I walked in and was met by a Brown haired woman, she stood taller than me and had a very large smile. I forced a smile, I didn't have any reason to be rude to her.

"It's lovely to finally meet you, you're gorgeous, you must get it from your mother" She joked and I hate to say but I did crack an involuntary smile.

"Dinner won't be long, why don't you go upstairs and settle down, meet your new roommate" My dad said nonchalantly, but my head whipped round to meet his gaze, and by the nervous look on his face, he realised, he did indeed, forget to tell me something else.

"Roommate?" I ask, a strained look on my face as I tried to keep calm.

"I may have neglected to mention that there isn't enough rooms in this house, so you'll be sharing with Jane, Margarets daughter, she's 8" He scratched the back of his neck with a half smile.

"Great" I said sarcastically, accompanied by an obvious fake smile.

"You'll love her!" Margaret told me as I walked up the stairs to my room.

I walked in and everything was different, two single beds on either side of the room, pink walls, posters everywhere. A small child sitting on one of the single beds, smiling at me. A big smile like her mothers.

"Hi, I'm Jane!" she told me excitedly, and even though I wasn't best pleased with the situation, I couldn't help but smile at her.

"Hi, this is my bed right?" I pointed to the bed across from her, she nodded enthusiastically and even made an effort to jump up and guide me the few steps it took to get to the bed "Thanks" I said and laughed at how excited she was, maybe this won't be so bad. It's not like I stay here long, or all the time.

"I'm so glad you're finally here, I've been waiting for years!" She exaggerated and hugged me.

"It's nice to meet you too" I told her and awkwardly patted her on the back.

"Jamie is my brother, we're twins, but he's annoying so don't worry about him" I laughed with her and we both jumped slightly when my dad called us down for dinner.

Dinner was nice, less awkward now that there were more people to talk to, instead of it just being me and dad, not talking and just watching tv. This time we were sat at the table, I got to know Margaret and met Jamie, the annoying brother. Who wasn't actually that annoying but he did talk a lot, and apparently liked to prank people. I could tell my dad was getting frustrated with being interrupted by the small boy, and I internally cringed waiting for his outburst that was bound to happen.

"Jamie! Let other people talk for once" He snapped and Margaret stared at him and sighed. Jamie didn't say a word after that. Neither did Jane.

I tried to make conversation with them both between bites of my food but neither gave me more than one worded answers. I gave up after a while and finished my food and thanked Margaret for the meal. I guess he hasn't changed that much.

I texted my mom and updated her on the details, she was shocked and also sad for the kids about his small outburst but she reminded me that he could be trying, little steps are important. I don't know how she can defend him all the time, I guess thats what maturity is. She just wants me to have a happy relationship with him. I guess if he's trying then I could too.

I was laying on my bed when I heard light sniffling coming from the other bed in the room. I turned my lamp on and it suddenly stopped "Jane, you okay?" I whispered, it was late and she should've been asleep by now.

"N-no"

"What's up?"

"I don't like when he shouts, we don't mean to be bad" She said in-between sobs.

"Hey, hey, it's okay, he cares about you guys a lot, he's just a grumpy old man" She laughed a little at my words.

"Mom says he doesn't mean to be mean"

"Your mom's right, but that doesn't mean it's okay" She sniffled some more but the crying had stopped "How about I take you and Jamie to the park tomorrow? Would you like that? I think it would be fun"

"Yes!!!!" She whisper squealed.

"Good, so get some sleep, we have a big day tomorrow!" I took my phone and decided to text the one person I knew would love to come with me to the park. I thought that the twins might like meeting another friend, or two. hopefully she would respond to me, and hopefully she would say yes.
