Chapter 11. The Prietess of Seiryuu

Nakagou glared at me as I clung to Ferra. "I suspected as much once I saw what she was wearing." "Guards, seize that imposter!" The Emperor called out and immediately the guards surrounded Ferra and I, pointing their spears at us. Another guard came running up and knelt before the Emperor. "Forgive my intrusion, Emperor, but strangers have broken through the main gate and are loose inside the palace. Your command, sire?" Noticing that all of the guards were now looking to the Emperor, I felt now was our best chance. "Come on." I grabbed Ferra's hand and barreled through the guards and sprinted down the hallway. "Get after them, and be sure the Lady Ferra comes to no harm." Nakagou ordered the guards to come after us.

We ducked into a small room which seemed to hold some antiques and hid out there. I peeked out the door to observe, quickly closing the door back up as some guards ran past. "Ice, what do we do now?" Ferra asked as she picked up an ornate music box on one of the shelves and observed it. "We have to get out of this palace and back to Konan." She turned to look at me curiously. "What? To Konan?" I nodded. "Yes, Ferra. If you become the Priestess of Seiryuu for the Kingdom of Kutou it will make us enemies!" "Ice..."

I reached out and grabbed her hand gently. "Tamahome and the others would be glad to offer to help find you shelter, I'm sure of it." As I held her hand I suddenly noticed a faint scar on Ferra's wrist and gasped. "Ferra... where did this scar come from?" She quickly pulled her hand away and smiled softly at me. "Don't worry, it was only a minor cut. It's not as bad as it looks, it was three months ago when a blue light came out of the Universe of the Four Gods at the library. I think that was when I got hurt." I furrowed my brows. "Are you sure that general didn't have anything to do with-" "No, no! He helped me a lot when I first got here... I was so scared and confused. Nakagou saved me..."

"Oh I see..." I was relieved that he hadn't treated her poorly, but part of me was still worried about that scar. I decided to change the subject, so I didn't make her feel uncomfortable. "How come he's the only guy with blue eyes and fair hair out of everyone in this world?" She chuckled softly. "If you were a foreigner that's how you'd look." "Foreigner?" I tilted my head on confusion. "To be specific a foreigner from the far west, or in this case a kingdom no one has ever been to." I gave her a light applause and nodded. "No wonder you get such good grades." She smiled proudly at my praise.

I heard footsteps rapidly approaching the room we were in and I quickly grabbed her arm, hiding us behind a large curtain in the back of the room. Seconds later I heard the door open. "They in there?" "No." I then heard the door close again and I breathed a sigh of relief.

Outside a thunderstorm was beginning to start as Tamahome fought his way through many guards, Chichiri following close behind to protect him. As he neared the palace entrance, Nakagou walked out to face him. "You're one of the Suzaku Seven." Tamahome, not caring for chat at the moment, cut right to the chase. "What have you done with Ice?" "You bear the mark of the Ogre. Coming here by yourself to find your Priestess is very brave, Tamahome. But when fools get brave, they end up dead." "I asked you a question. Where is Ice." He glared at Nakagou.

"Indeed, well you might as well give up because you're not getting her back." "Well, too bad for you I'm not taking that as an option." Tamahome launched a kick at him, which Nakagou easily blocked with his arm. Tamahome landed and gripped his ankle in pain. "He hardly even connected. This guy is good..." Chichiri appeared on the roof of the palace as Nakagou approached Tamahome, casting a spell to freeze him in place. "Tamahome, I froze him. Get out of there!" He stood up and nodded before running off. "Thanks Chichiri!" Nakagou smirked smugly. "Oh, you brought a friend with you I see." He focused all his energy and easily broke the hold, sending Chichiri flying backwards from the force before he vanished again.
