Chapter nine
It had been a few weeks since the whole Jarvis and shield incident and nothing knew had come up since, other than the fact that Tony had managed to somehow get Jarvis up and running again. The lack of updates disappointed the team while simultaneously making them even more impatient than they have been.
Everybody had done what Steve had asked them to, and continued on with the standard recon missions, nothing too challenging. A new mission that required the whole team had come up, however, it didn't seem too complicated but there was word of a possible enhanced, so Fury wanted the whole team there just in case things went south.
The team had heard the mission was taking place in one of the coldest parts of Sokovia, Novi Grad, and it was safe to say that they weren't too pleased to be back in the snow. Thor had tagged along also, because he was on Midgard anyways, and decided to join in on the fight, which was much appreciated by the other Avengers. They needed all the help they could get.
As they neared the hydra facility, Clint and Natasha weaved through the trees of the forest nearby in one of the guards' trucks, Clint shooting at the surrounding guards with his bow while Natasha drove. Thor shot up into the air, tossing his hammer at a group of agents on the ground and landing in front of another cluster of them, punching them unconscious. He held his hand out, beckoning his hammer, and watched as it flew straight through the chest of a guard, smiling as he walked to go find more.
Steve sped past on a motorcycle, grabbing an agent and tossing him into one of the surrounding trees. He dodged the explosions going off nearby and launched his shield at the heads of a few agents, swerving his bike into them. As he drove through the snowy forest, a truck came barrelling towards him, Thor smashing it with his hammer at the last second and tossing it over his head.
Hulk caught it, hurling it in a random direction and grabbing two guards, smashing their heads together and roaring with rage as he pounded them into the ground.
Tony's suit whipped up into the air, spinning and flipping over the incoming bullets and rockets being launched at him, making his way above the facility, smashing straight into a force field covering it, "Shit!"
"Language!", Steve huffed, navigating his way through the trees, "Jarvis, what's the view from upstairs?"
"The central building is protected by some kind of energy shield, Strucker's technology is appearing to be much more than advanced than any hydra base we've taken."
Thor grunts as he swings his hammer at the guards, "Loki's sceptre must be here, Strucker couldn't mount this defence without it. At long last."
Over on the other side of the forest, Natasha jumps off the edge of a rock, swinging her legs around a guards neck and pulling him to the floor, his head smashing against the ground, "At long last is lasting a little long, boys."
"Yep, I think we lost the element of surprise."
"Wait, is no one else gonna deal with the fact that Cap just said... language?", Tony asks.
"I know.", Steve groans, flipping over his bike, grabbing the handles and tossing it at an oncoming truck, exploding it, "It just slipped out."
//
"Report to your stations immediately. This is not a drill."
Strucker sighs, placing his hands on his hips in frustration, "We are on the verge of our greatest breakthrough and they are going to ruin it."
"Then let's show them what we've accomplished. Send out the twins."
Strucker turns towards the siblings in the corner, the two glancing nervously at each other, their hands linked between them.
