___________________________ Exposure was not something Artemis took very lightly. The feeling of being vulnerable was something that scared her. If you didn't have your walls and foundation built strong, it was easier for people to take advantage. ___________________________
"I have been working all day everyday and I think I'm getting close to figuring out what your transformation's all about" Lewis says and I can feel my eyes preventing themselves from rolling all the way to the back of my head. The transformation turned us into mermaids...

Emma responds by saying just exactly what I was thinking, "Lewis, we kind of figured that one out for ourselves"
"Yeah, for me it was the tails. Was it the tails for you Cleo, Artemis?" Rikki adds, her sarcastic tone putting a smile on my face. "Y'know...I think it was also our magic powers that set the tone for me" I join her and jokingly nudge Lewis.
"Ease off on Lewis, he's trying to help." Says Cleo, in a way where I can tell she's fed up with us being sarcastic.
The feeling of the sun spreads warmth through me as we walk through the sand, my ears try their best to block Lewis ranting about science. I understand that he finds it interesting that we can turn into mermaids, but the way he keeps going on about it makes me feel like I'm constantly under a microscope.
The feeling beneath my feet changes as we leave the shore and walk onto soft beds of fresh grass.
"Look, guys in the next week or so I am gonna have an opportunity to, well, to...forget it."
I hear Rikki sigh, "Lewis. Speak." That immediately sends him into a scientific rant.
"OK. There's someone arriving today, she's doing Dolphin research at the Marine park. Her name's Denman. She did her PhD at 21, can you believe that?" He can't even try to keep his excitement contained. I can't help it as a yawn leaves my lips and I share a look with Cleo and I can tell we're both thinking the same thing.
He seems to be really interested in this doctor.
"I'm tingling." says Rikki in her everyday sarcasm.
I revert my attention back to Lewis as he continues speaking, "These days she's one of the world's leading experts in aquatic mammalian cellular evolution." Those are big words to digest. "If I can tap into her research-"
"And how are you gonna get access to a scientist like her, Lewis?" Emma asks.
"I have my methods."
"What? Like your undeniable charm perhaps, Lewis?" I throw out with a teasing grin on my face, Emma laughs at my words.
