As the memories flooded your mind, you recollected the moments you had spent with your adoptive parents, Hirato and Himari Uchiha, who had taken you in as a baby when your biological parents had tragically died on a mission under the Hokage's orders. Though you were grateful for your loving and caring parents, the Uchiha elders had always looked at you with disdain, treating you as an outcast, owing to their elitist nature. Yet, their hostile behaviour only fueled your determination to prove your worth to everyone around you.Today, you were on your way to meet your best friend, Obito Uchiha. Upon reaching his home, you found the door slightly ajar and walked in to find Obito still asleep. You couldn't help but chuckle as you saw his messy room, which was quite similar to your own. But your amusement turned to disgust when you heard him drooling in his sleep while muttering Rin's name, his crush.
"Ew, gross," you muttered, your nose scrunching up in disgust.
Deciding to wake him up, you jumped on top of him and yelled, "WAKE UP! WE ARE LATE TO THE ACADEMY! HOW DO YOU PLAN ON DEFEATING KAKASHI SLEEPING LIKE THAT?"
Obito, who was fiercely competitive with his childhood rival, instantly jumped out of bed and started chasing you. You deftly escaped his grasp and ran out of the house, with Obito hot on your heels, snatching his bright orange goggles from his nightstand in the process.
"COME BACK HERE Y/N!"
"YOU GOTTA CATCH ME FIRST!"
As you both raced each other to the academy, you could feel your breaths coming in short pants. You entered the class, panting heavily, only to be met with the disapproving stare of your teacher, who had already started the class.
"(Y/N) and Obito, you are late again. Please enter the class, take a seat, and pay attention," he scolded.
Mumbling some excuses, you and Obito took the seats next to each other. As you sat down, you noticed Obito's slight blush as he stared at Rin. The sight made you feel a twinge of jealousy.
As the class went on, you both zoned out as usual, until it was time for the shuriken throwing practice. The entire class gathered outside, taking turns tossing weapons at the wooden logs under the teacher's surveillance.
When it was Kakashi's turn, everyone stopped talking and watched as he effortlessly hit all the targets with precision. The girls, especially Rin, giggled and congratulated him on his impressive skills. Although you were indifferent towards Kakashi, you couldn't help but notice that he was cold and distant towards Obito and sometimes acted like an asshole towards him.
Obito stepped up, determined to overcome his rival, and concentrated hard as he threw his shuriken. The class fell silent as the tension rose, but Obito missed all three targets, and everyone, except for you, Rin, and Kakashi, burst into laughter. Obito's face turned red, and he walked back to the group of students, feeling ashamed.
You felt sorry for Obito and decided to show some compassion towards your friend. You didn't want to leave him alone in that situation. It was now your turn, and you threw your shuriken, missing all the targets and nearly hitting your teacher. He dodged the weapon just in time, with annoyance written all over his face. The class laughed at your "clumsiness," and soon, the event with Obito was forgotten
"Thank you so much, Y/N" spoke your companion in a low, bittersweet tone, his lips curving into a melancholic yet tender smile.
As a proud ninja, his words carried deep significance and meaning.
"What have I done?" you responded lightheartedly.
The class had been dismissed, and all the girls surrounded Kakashi, showering him with praise for his extraordinary skills. Rin's voice particularly sounded
