On the first day of the third band camp, Eddie and Carson successfully got through basics and sectionals. Since Carson was feeling especially parched, he sat down with Eddie for lunch and they spoke about their predictions for drill. 

When Mr. Doherty and Nammo  called the band to the field for drill, Eddie was the least bit excited. As the boys walked to their set 0 dots, they both realized that they were not near each other. With this information, both Eddie and Carson got less and less enthusiastic about the marching show. The little hope that Eddie had for band was that him and Carson would march close to each other next season. 

As they learned their steps and sets, Carson and Eddie would wink and make gestures at each other every chance they got. As the day came to an end, Eddie and Carson said their goodbyes with their sections and left the high school. 

Later that night, the two boys called each other until the break of dawn. This caused Carson to be drained the entire day. Eddie, who was used to staying up late and not sleeping, tried to help out his friend. 

After Carson had finished his lunch that day, his tiredness caught up to him and he ended up falling asleep on Eddie's shoulder. When Eddie noticed that Carson was laying on him, he shrugged and continued eating. When the lunch break was coming to an end, Eddie woke up Carson and they went back to learning their new sets. 

During their 10 minute long water break, Carson fell asleep again and Eddie had to wake him up. When band camp day 2 came to an end, Eddie said his goodbyes to Carson and Carson drowsily said them back.
