After daddy left I tried my best not to draw too much attention to myself, it was bad enough I knew I was wearing a diaper under this dress. I also knew if someone else found out I'd die of embarrassment, not that the frilly garment provided much coverage anyway but still. But regardless of how hard I tried to blend in I soon found myself face to face with a small Chinese dragon. Humiliating attire aside I attempted to open the lines of communication to him, " Hiya, wanna pway? "

I quickly picked up on the scent of baby powder lingering in the air around him as well as a slight bulge under his shorts confirming my suspicions. He was padded too, only his was thinner indicating he'd just started potty training or was currently in the middle of it. The dark scaled yokai was enthusiastic and responded almost immediately, " With a cutie like you, sure! "

I blushed slightly at being called 'cute' by someone other than the foxes who abducted me. Astonishingly, didn't allow me to dwell on it as he carefully removed my infantile gag and placed it in the front pocket of my dress, " There we go, I'm sure you've been dying to talk like a big kid again- "

Bewildered I could only ask, " How'd you do that?! "

Shushing me gently as he pat my head, " You have a lot to learn about the spirit world kid, that binky of yours is enchanted to prevent removal by babies. Only big kids and grownups can, the only exception to them being if you need to be changed or fed. "

That certainly explains why I've had so much trouble but I found myself more fascinated by him hovering a foot off the ground, " You can fly? "

He twirled around a bit, " Yep, unlike our western counterparts wh rely on spacious wings and intense training we dragons of the East are born with this ability. "

" How? "

He looked slightly annoyed at all the questions, probably wishing he'd left the paci in place, " Well, for starters we produce a special gaseous mixture inside our bodies that's ventilated through our scales. Once emerging it quickly shrouds us in a potent but flammable vapor barrier that makes our bodies lighter than air for a little while. "

That made sense or else they'd always stay airborne, it also explained why they took great care to aim their fiery bursts away from their body. I had the same problem with a bean burrito once when I accidentally ignited my finger in a poorly lit bathroom but that was a story for another time, " I'm guessing by your inquisitive nature and the fact you don't babble like other yokai your age that you weren't born here but rather regressed and brought to the spirit world, am I right? "

I nodded baffled as to how he knew so much about me and I knew next to nothing about him aside from the fact he was a few years older than me, " Who are you? "

Flashing a fanged smile he stated bluntly, " I'm Shadow and I think we're going to be great friends, Krimson. "

He knew my name, but how?
