"Heyy! Jake!"
Jake lost his focus on what Sean had just said for a moment or two, and looked down to a climbing Henry. He stumbled onto the edge of the cliff, and looked up as he sat. "Finished, dude-" The green haired boy noticed the unexpected company.
"Sean, why are you here? Aren't you supposed to be hanging out with your freak friends or something?~" Teased Henry, smirking at the sight of his newfound punching bag. Sean stayed calm, however.
"No reason. I was walkin' around, jammin' to my music. I'll be going now." Sean dismissively answered, turning the other way and attempting to leave off.
Henry tilted his head, "Oh? How come, Sean? Am I making you mad?~" He teased again, desperately wanting a reaction out of him. Irritation flickered in Seans eyes, but he still made no expression.
"No, not really. Well-" He(Sean) turned around for a moment, to look at Jake with a soft smile. "See you around, Jake." He then turned around, and began to walk into the forest surrounded hill.
"Uhh.. yeah, you too, Sean!" Awkwardly, Jake replied while laughing nervously. When both Henry and Jake were left in silence, Henry spoke up-
"Well, now that I'm done looking for my sweet sweet treasure, we can go now!" Henry grinned. Jakes warm brown eyes swirled in dissociation, before he smiled as friendly as he could and said; "Hah, yeah.."
As the two began to chat and walk back up the hill, Jake couldn't help but wonder back to what Sean had said.. did.. his friends not tell him something?
-
A warm purple sky, enveloped in a slight orangey tint lay still above the town, and the two boys walked beneath the faint stars. Moonlight shone on Jakes peach hair, giving it a bluish tinge.
"Oh yeah- the Junkyard! Dude, guess what.. you'll never believe me, but.." Henry's eyes shone with excitement, as he then shook Jake by his shoulders childishly.
"I found a Lettuce-chan figure!" He cheered. Jake's voice shook as he tried to speak as much as he could in his unstability; "Oh- is- that- so?"
"Yeah, man! This place really is like a miracle station!" Henry loudly said, grabbing Jake by the collar and holding him close. "God has really blessed me today, dude!" He squealed in happiness, letting go of Jake.
He violently vibrated in joy at the thought of the figure in the Junkyard, as Jake only sighed in endearment at his excited but oddly adorable friend.
"Jeez, you really want it, huh?" Jake chuckled, looking into Henry's sparkling eyes of innocence. "Dude, yes." Henry replied, looking serious, but still adorable.
"Well- I could come with you to get it tomorrow, with all that stuff in there, I'd assume it would be a little hard to get it yourself." Jake scratched the back of his hair, with a light smile on his moon illuminated face.
Henry gasped dramatically, "You'd really do that?!" He asked, looking happy as can be. Jake laughed again, "Of course man, anything for one of my homies."
Immediately, the short, green haired boy rushed toward his peach haired friend and hugged him tight. "Thank you so much, man! Your the best!" Stars were in his eyes as he loudly said that, while Jake sort of struggled in his grip.
"H- Hey! Jeez, man, relax!" Jake slightly pushed Henry, but smiled in a friendly way regardless.
Henry thanked him repeatedly, moving in a slightly girly way. But Jake couldn't keep that.. thing.
He wanted to know what Sean meant by that. Was he being serious, or was he joking?.. No, surely he would have laughed if he was.
After keeping it in his thoughts for a minute or two, Jake finally spoke up.
"Hey, Henry.. this is a bit of a weird question, but do you know of any accidents or something that happened before I got here?" Asked Jake. Henry stopped dancing. "Huh? What do you mean, dude?" He asked curiously.
"You know, like.." Jake trailed off. "An accidental injury or.. maybe even a murde-"
"I don't know."
Jake flinched, not expecting that tone shift in his voice. For some reason, it sounded more like a denial than an answer.
"Yeah, I don't really know, dude- I had kinda just moved here during middle school. Don't think i heard about a murder or whatever." Henry nervously said, looking as if he felt unease from the odd and ominous question.
"Oh, I see.." Mumbled Jake, still a little taken aback by Henry's odd deepening of his voice for a moment. Henry raised his eyebrow, "Why were you asking anyway? Did something happen?" Asked he.
"N.. No, I was just curious, that's all." Jake chuckled nervously once more. Henry looked in disbelief, "Dude. You can tell me if something happened. Did Sean say something weird or?.."
"No! No! He didn't say anything at all!" Jake denied, still chuckling in a nervous manner.
Henry averted his gaze, "Well, okay.." He placed a hand on his hip. "Well, I'll be heading back home now! Gotta catch up on the newest edition of the My Hero Academia manga after all.." Smugly, Henry said.
Jake smiled, "Alright. See you around, Henry."
"See you, Jake." Said Jake, before running off into the dark and towards his house.
Even after Jake had parted ways with his dear friend, the subject he had learnt of only an hour ago still tugged his thoughts.
He had to know what Sean had meant.
