[[ Eudoria's POV ]]

You couldn't help but wonder what y/n was up to in town all by herself. You tried distracting yourself by painting something you have been working on for quite some time now. You were waiting for Enola to come downstairs before the pair of you would go to town as well.

You made a mental note to stop by the tailor shop to buy new materials. Enola was starting to outgrow her clothing, today when you were training in the garden her skirt had ripped as she perfectly evaded an attack. You were proud nonetheless but the girl needed new clothes, luckily you were a pretty good seamstress. It would be the prime opportunity to introduce Enola to sewing.

[[ Y/N POV ]]

You had forgotten just how much you loved visiting all the shops, even if you didn't buy anything it was still nice to see what rarities have been imported from overseas.

You were currently in a perfume shop, that conveniently sold other female necessities as well. You picked up one of the many bottles from the shelves and gave it a smell, "this is the one." you thought to yourself and added it to your basket. After paying you nearly bumped into the lady that was waiting in line behind you.

"OH ! Madam I do apologise."

"Madam? I haven't been called that since I got divorced."

"It can't be! Mary, it's you." you impulsively hugged the woman that she gladly returned.

"It is so good to see you again y/n where have you been all this time, I haven't seen you since I left for Paris."

Mary use to be your violin teacher. You started playing the violin after your seventeenth birthday. She was only three years your senior so you quickly got on and became friends. She was your teacher for thirteen months and then every lesson turned into a gathering of some kind. Mary was there on your eighteenth birthday, she was the first at your door to give you a card and a bouquet of flowers. Overwhelmed with the gesture you kissed her as a way to show your appreciation. A lot of close female friends often kiss as a form of greeting but this felt different. Mary was caught off guard and simply stared at you in shock. It was at that moment you knew you might want to be more than just friends.

Soon after Mary would visit more often, something that did not go unnoticed by your mother. You and Mary could keep each other busy for hours on end, not only were you best friends but secret lovers as well. She was your first and also the first woman you ever loved. Suddenly all the childish crushes you had on boys when you were in school seemed appalling to say the least.

You and Mary had separated due to a mutual decision. She wanted to pursue her dream and study music in Paris. You did not however share that dream, you couldn't possibly leave your mother. At that point, you didn't truly understand what you wanted.

"Lots seemed to have happened, my mother passed away a year after you left," you said looking at your feet, trying not to cry.

"Oh heavens no! I'm so sorry to hear that, I wish I had known, I would have come to visit to support you."

"Honestly when it happened I was in a state of mind that I didn't even think of anyone else but my mother."

"Let us not stand about and chatter, let's go to that old cafe we use to go to, then we can properly catch up."

{ At the cafe }

"By the way, did you say divorced ?"  you blurted out as soon as you were seated outside to enjoy the sun.

"I was wondering how long you were going to wait until you ask but yes I'm divorced, marital life is not as blissful as they make it out to be, even for the French."
