"Look, I know that you hate me, so you never told me where you lived." Lin Ze spoke as he helped the still weak Meng Xing sit up on the patient bed. "But, you have to tell me now. Or else, where should I send you to?" he asked. "And, who will help you look after your currently weak self?" he added.

"These are none of your concern, right?" Meng Xing asked as he coldly looked at Lin Ze.

Lin Ze frowned. He was about to speak but stopped when old Ji shook his head at him. What old Ji meant is to not stimulate the patient's emotions, since the patient would just be more ill.

"Also – " Meng Xing spoke. " – I have someone to help look after me." He said.

Lin Ze looked at Meng Xing in surprise. Just as he was about to ask who, there was a knock on the door. Lin Ze and old Jing looked back, only to see a handsome man with a frown on his face. His gaze landed on Meng Xing before he turned and glared at Lin Ze.

"You're here." Meng Xing muttered when he saw that it was Qiu Yi.

"Hey, I am also here!" a female voice spoke.

Lin Ze frowned and saw a very beautiful woman standing behind Qiu Yi. He could feel that Qiu Yi is hostile to him, but he doesn't know why.

"Qiqi." Meng Xing called when he saw that it was Qiu Qi.

Qiu Qi giggled. She glanced at Lin Ze, who is similarly frowning, and meaningfully smiled. "Hey, Ah Xing is waiting there. You go and help him up." She said and pushed Qiu Yi.

Qiu Yi retracted his gaze from Lin Ze who is looking at him with his eyes filled with bewilderment. "Ah Xing." He called, though his voice trembled a little. His touch is even very careful as he helped Meng Xing stand.

Qiu Qi's eyes narrowed in amusement as she looked at Lin Ze, the ex-fiance, Meng Xing, and Qiu Yi who has a long-time crush with their boss. Yo, what a shura field!

"Take me home." Meng Xing told Qiu Yi.

Qiu Yi's pupils trembled. "En." He answered and lowered his gaze.

Qiu Qi almost grinned had she not been afraid that Lin Ze would notice something. "Doctor Ji." She called the old doctor and kindly smiled. "Thank you for looking after our bo – ehem, friend, Ah Xing." She said and took out a pouch filled with money. "Here, a token of our gratitude." She said.

"Huh? But, Lin Ze already paid – " old Ji said and looked at Lin Ze whose brows are knitted while looking at Qiu Yi helping the weak Meng Xing walk to the door.

Qiu Qi also looked at Lin Ze.

Lin Ze felt that there is something wrong. "Wait." He finally can't help but speak.

Qiu Qi's eyes flashed while Qiu Yi and Meng Xing stopped.

"You are his friends, right?" Lin Ze asked. "Then, do you know how he was poisoned?" he asked as his gaze remained on Qiu Yi's back.

Qiu Yi frowned and was about to turn and answer when Meng Xing spoke first.

"As I have told you earlier, this is none of your concern." Meng Xing coldly said without looking back at Lin Ze. "And, I already have cleared everything I owe you. I will go find my friend myself, so there is no need for you to trouble yourself further with my matters." He said and walked out of the door.

There, a carriage stopped and the coach hurriedly came down and opened the door while Qiu Yi helped Meng Xing enter the carriage. His movements are extremely gentle. Qiu Qi also knows that this matter ends here. She pushed the money pouch to the doctor and followed Qiu Yi and Meng Xing inside the carriage before the door of the carriage closed. Then, the carriage left.

All these were in front of Lin Ze.

"Lin Ze." Old Ji called after the carriage left. "Can I ask why you broke the engagement with Meng Ruyan?" he asked.

"It was a pointless engagement." Lin Ze answered.

"Then – " old Ji looked at Lin Ze. " – have you liked anyone?" he asked.

Lin Ze didn't answer.

Old Ji sighed. "That young man just now looks very good." He said, referring to Meng Xing. "It is a pity that he was poisoned." He said as he cleaned up his medical kit.

"I was suspecting his identity." Lin Ze spoke.

"'suspecting'?" old Ji was surprised.

Lin Ze nodded in affirmation. He and old Ji had long known each other. When he was young, he often gotten into fights, and it was old Ji who treated him. Since then, he frequented old Ji's clinic after his every fight. Thus, he became acquainted with the old doctor.

"He is not from the capital, nor is he from jianghu." Lin Ze spoke. "He also isn't from the palace." He added.

Old Ji's brows knitted. "Indeed, I was born in the capital and never left, so I know everyone who lives here." he spoke. "I really haven't met that young man until now." He said.

"So, I stuck myself with him to place him under my surveillance." Lin Ze said. "And, all clues that I got were that he is an orphan, from countryside, and he has a female friend who went missing." He said.

"'went missing'?!" old Ji exclaimed.

"En. But, after you said that he might have been poisoned, I suspected that it was this female 'friend' that he is looking for that might have poisoned him." Lin Ze explained.

"I see... so that's how it is." Old Ji now understood. "But, he doesn't look really suspicious aside from he is new to the capital, right?" he said.

"Indeed..." Lin Ze nodded. "But, I just can't shake off this feeling that there is something off with him." He said and frowned.

Old Ji looked at him. "Wasn't it because he just looks so good?" he said.

Lin Ze's face was covered in black lines. But, he can't refute what old Ji said. Because Meng Xing indeed is the best-looking person that he has ever seen.

The author has something to say:

Meng Xing, a sick beauty: *sigh. Here starts my sick days...

Lin Ze: I am here to look after you –

Qiu Yi: *pushes LZ away. Stay away from our boss! *glare

Qiu Qi: this is very amusing. *eats melon seeds
