"The donepezil seems to be working quite well. Any side effects?" The nurse says as she looks at her clipboard, and gives me a condescending smile.
"I'm having trouble sleeping," I tell her honestly, as Mikayla squeezes my hand. I smile at her gratefully, then turn to her mom, Kate my daughter.
"Yes, that's a very common side effect. We could change your medication to rivastigmine if you'd like," The nurse explains, talking more to Kate than to me. I nod along, but I have no idea what they're saying.
She looks over her notes again, "Of course, as the Alzheimer's progresses we would recommend a treatment of memantine, and occupational therapy. It is also possible to have a carer at home to help,"
"I can look after my own father just fine, thank you very much," Kate says sharply, her lips pressed into a line. I smile at her as she glares coldly at the nurse.
The nurse awkwardly shifts in her seat, and soon finishes the appointment. I'm glad, because I hate being talked about as if I'm not even in the room, being treated like a child.
In the car Kate taps her fingers on the steering wheel as she waits for the traffic to move. Mikayla sits beside me in the backseat, her head on my shoulder. She yawns and mumbles, "The nurse said to write things you want to remember. But, you can just tell me,"

I giggle as Michael gently tickles my sides and he smiles at me fondly. We're underneath the blankets of my bed and he stops tickling me for a second, so I take the quick opportunity to peck his lips. I go to pull away, but he wraps his arms around my waist and pulls me back in.
I giggle as he presses soft kisses to my neck, making me blush. He reaches for my waist, and tickles me again. Soon, I'm a helpless bundle of giggles and squeals. "P-please," I whine, "S-stop," Another giggle, "Please, Mikey?"
He raises an eyebrow and stops, but keeps his hands on my waist, "Fine. But you look so cute when you're being tickled,"
I blush, but retort, "Bítch, I know. I'm cute as fúck,"
"Yea, cocky too," He mumbles
"I'm going to pretend I didn't hear that," I say as I scotch closer to him, resting my head on his shoulder. He wraps his arms around my waist tighter, and I put my hand on his chest.
"Your heartbeats going, like, really fast," I chuckle as I feel it beneath my palm.
"Yea, I know."Michael bites his lip, and looks at me nervously. , "It's just- we're all cuddled up and your eyes are shining in the sunlight and your hair is a little messy and your giggle is so perfect and just- just you. And I just realized how much I want to call you mine."
"W-what do you mean?" I stutter, looking up at him with a hopeful expression.
"I mean- I mean will you be my boyfriend, Ashton Fletcher?"
I lean over and capture his lips with mine, and he brushes his thumb over my cheek. Our lips move together slowly, and when I pull away we're both smiling.
"Of course, you dork," I roll my eyes playfully
He pretends to look offended, "I take it back now, Jerk," but he immediately peppers my face with kisses, and holds me tight. Our legs intertwine, and our faces are so close we share the same air. I bury my face in his shoulder and he chuckles.
The peaceful quiet is interrupted by a phone alarm, and Mikey groans, rolling his eyes. I looks at him, "You might want to answer that,"
He whines, "Nooooo. Let's just stay here,"
"What if it's important?" I whisper
He sighs, but lets go of me, and tries to get up, but his feet get tangled in the bed sheets and he hits the ground. I laugh as I peer over the side of my bed. "Damn, I wish I had videoed that," I giggle, and he rolls over onto his back and shots me a dirty look from the ground. He scrambles up, reaching for his phone.
* * * * *
"I can't believe you haven't already got your wisdom teeth taken out," I laughed and poked his cheek. He groaned in protest, clutching his face. The drug had made his mouth numb, but the dull ache meant he was very grumpy, making it very fun for me to tease him.
"You're twenty years old, shouldn't you have done this ages ago?"
He gave me an evil glare, but shrugged and took a sip of his milkshake, "Probably. I just really hate the dentist. When he stopped giving me lollipops and stickers I didn't really see the point in going anymore,"
We sit in silence on the park bench, sharing the milkshake for a few minutes until Michael looks at his phone and then at me.
"Agreed," I nod.
"You want to go back to your place?"
"Ooh, someone's moving fast, gosh," I chuckle
"Ha. Ha. Ha," He says sarcastically, raising an eyebrow at me.
"Nahhh. I don't wanna go home," I make a wild gesture with my arms before resting my head on Michael's shoulder, "I'm borredddd,"
"Do I look like I care, bítch?" He jokes.
"Well if that's how you feel!" I tease, crossing my arms and turning away, "I think we should break up!"
He pretends to cry, "No, please, baby I'll do anything," He pulls me back and I giggle, slinging my legs over his lap and my arms around his chest
"How about we go to your house? I've never been," I say, absent mindedly playing with his sleeves.
He scratches the back of his neck awkwardly, "I- I don't think that's such a good idea,"
"What do you mean?" I ask warily, moving away from him slightly and giving him a suspicious look,
He looks uneasy as he answers, "N- nothing. Just- um. My house is a mess. Yea. It's super messy,"
"Tell me the truth," I search his eyes for an answer, "Are you cheating on me? Are you cheating on someone with me"
He shakes his head vigorously, "No- of course not. I would never."
"What are you hiding, then?"
He sighs as he places a hand over his shaking knee, and looks away. I can tell he's going to tell me the truth when he turns back around, looking right into my eyes. But his answer wasn't what I was expecting.
[A/N]: Little bit of a cliffhanger, ooh. Lmao not really. Their relationship is weird af, one minute they're joking, then they're being all serious. Oh well.
I'm kinda obsessed with 5sos's new song, 'Permanent Vacation' it's probably obvious, but I'm a Mikey girl and his singing in it... asdfghjkl.
Thanks for the votes and comments!!! Peace out, girl scouts.
