Giyuu let himself go. He began to smile more and finally let everyone in. The others visited as often as possible as his condition just got worse and worse.
Sanemi still wasn't doing missions as he cared for his lover. He knew how he felt. Giyuu was more than a friend and more than family.
It was obvious. He hadn't hesitated go tell the man and was pleasantly surprised when he learned that the other felt the same.
He smiled as he cooked breakfast for the two of them, hoping to spend the morning together before Giyuu would run out of energy.
He pushed the door open, seeing ngf the man still snuggled into a soft blankets. He set the tray of food down and gently shook Giyuu's shoulder.
"Hey akemi. Time to wake up." He whispered as the other stirred and opened his eyes slowly.
"Nemi? Is it morning already?" He asked with a pout. Sanemi chuckled.
"Yeah. I made you food. Come here." He gently lifted the overly sleepy man into a sitting position and set the tray in front of him.
"How'd you sleep?" He asked as the other started to eat.
"Like I was dropped on my back." He deadpanned. Sanemi laughed.
"That's what happens when you sleep in weird places." He smiled and brushed a few strands of hair out of Giyuu's eyes, frowing as he noticed a tiny patch of blood next to Giyuu's mouth.
"You were coughing again." He whispered as tears welled up in his eyes. He gently wiped the dried blood off as Giyuu paused.
"It's okay Nemi. You and I both know I'm not going to last much longer." He spoke softly, ignoring the protests of the other. He rested his head on Sanemi's lap and sighed in content.
"But it'll be okay so long as you're there."
Sanemi bit his lip as his eyes began to burn. Tears were falling at a fast pace.
"Damn it Giyuu.... I don't want you to go at all." He whispered to himself.
"But we can't control fate. I know I'm going to die. And I'm okay with it." Giyuu reached up and wiped the tears off of Sanemi's face.
"I'll still be here. You just won't be able to see me." He smiled warmly as he was hugged tightly, Sanemi breaking down and crying.
Sanemi smiled at him as the tears fell even harder. "Yeah but I never want to stop being able to see you." Giyuu laughed.
"You have pictures of me you idiot." He teased playfully.
Sanemi pouted and looked away. "Hmph." Giyuu began to laugh as a small grin tigged at Sanemi's lips.
He yawned after a minutes as his energy burned out. "I'm going to take a nap okay...?" He asked slowly as his eyes closed and he began to breathe deeply. Sanemi smiled and slipped Giyuu's head ont ok the pillow before heading out to go train for a little while before lunch.
He couldn't focus but he kept his ears out for any weak shouts. When the sun was a little higher in the sky, he went to go make lunch.
He pushed open the door to Giyuu's room and the tray clattered to the floor as he noticed the empty bed.
"GIYUU?!" He yelled in fear.
He heard a weak groan from down the hall and sprinted. He turned the corner and saw the man sprawled on the floor, clearly having tired to walk.
"GIYUU!" He sent his crow a look and it flew off, using all its speed to get to the others in time.
He gently lifted the man, seeing he was awake. "What happened?!" He questioned as he sat down, pulling Giyuu into his lap.
Giyuu smiled. "I.... I wanted to see the outside one more time." His voice was broken. His eyes were no longer their clear beautiful blue, now a stormy grew. Sanemi gulped as his eyes looked over.
"I can't see you Nemi." Giyuu whispered.
"Shut up. You're going to be fine!" Sanemi yelled desperately. He was trying to think of anything he could do to help.
"Outside.... please Nemi... " Giyuu whispered.
Sanemi wiped his eyes and ran for the back door. He pushed it open and took Giyuu to the garden and set him on his favorite bench overlooking the flowers. The sunlight seemed to focus on them as Sanemi held on for dear life.
This couldn't be happening. He still had another week. His shoulder shook with sobs as Giyuu stared at the flowers.
"Hey Nemi....?" He asked softly. Sanemi looked up in a mixture of horror and confusion.
"I just wanted to say that I'll always love you." Giyuu's eyes closed as he leaned up, stealing one last kiss from his lover before his breathing stopped.
Rapid footsteps approached as Sanemi let out a wail of pain. He clung to the man tightly, not letting anybody take him away.
He tired to get him to open his eyes one more time. Just one more time.
Finally he glared at the sky.
'I wish you could stay. Guess I'll just have to be jealous of the angels you'll be with until I get there.'
