"So... how are these lights gonna work?"

"They're battery powered!" Peter called from the top of a rather large evergreen. "And the battery pack has a an insulated casing around it to protect it from the cold and snow. They're also extended life batteries so they should last until after Christmas."

I shook my head with a smile as I stepped back to watch Peter wrap the lights around the top of the tree, slowly descending down as he did so. "Let me guess, you added all those goodies?"

"I did!" He proudly remarked with that classic Peter smirk. "That's why I was so excited to get you out here to help me."

"So you could brag?" I teased him, catching the last half of the lights to wrap around the bottom section of the tree.

"Maybe. But you've gotta admit," He jumped off the tree and flung snow everywhere. "It's pretty cool. You can't tell me you're not even the least bit impressed."

"I guess so, Parker," I snickered, brushing snow off the front of my coat when I met back with him. He tucked the end of the string of lights into the base of the tree and secured it there with a web. "Don't get too cocky though. You're still a nerd."

"Says the honor's student," Peter fired back, reaching for another string of lights from the box. "You wanna get the ornaments started on this one while I get these lights on the other?"

"Sure!"

The two of us continued the playful banter as we decorated and before we knew it, the small park was covered in fully decorated trees. It was also just past ten o'clock at night, so the Christmas lights were giving the snow a beautiful, multicolored glow.

Peter pulled me close to his side and kissed the top of my head.

"Now are you glad you let me drag you out here?"

"Y'know, Pete, for once..." I lightly scoffed, laying my head on his shoulder. "Maybe I'm grateful you're so annoying."

"See, I knew you loved me," Peter joked. I was so distracted by the beauty of the lights that I didn't notice much when Peter pulled away.

I did notice, however, when a cold and wet snowball exploded against my blushed cheek. I immediately wiped off the residue of nearly frozen water from my skin and scoffed in shock at my death-wish-having boyfriend.

Who was doubled over in laughter. Which I took instant advantage of by shoving him over into the snow and landing on top of him. I grabbed fistfuls of snow and began throwing them down at him. All the while he could barely breathe from laughing so much.

"Your- your face!!" He sputtered out, wiping the snow from his own face. His beanie had come off amidst the struggle and caused his hair to grow wet and cold. "Babe, the look on your face! Okay!! Okay, I'm sorry! Come here!"

Peter yanked me down on top of him and flipped us over, placing me into the outline his body left in the snow. Which, was a lot bigger than me. He pinned my arms down into the ground and leaned in, pressing his soft, cold lips to mine. Both of ours slightly purple and shivering.

He pulled away with a laugh and a look of complete adoration in his eyes. "I love you. So much."

"I love you too. Dork," I snickered, shoving him off of me. "Even though you drive me nuts."

"You love it though," He nudged me, then helped me get up. "Come on. It's late. We really need to get home and warm before we both get sick."

"If we haven't already exposed ourselves to it."

The two of us made it back to the house just in time to say goodnight to Aunt May before she went to bed. Peter whipped us up a mug of hot chocolate each, I grabbed us a change of warm comfy clothes, and we sat snuggled up in front of the fireplace.

I leaned my head on his shoulder. "Thank you. For... getting me out of the house. I needed it."

"You were starting to get all cranky," Peter reasoned with a shrug. "Sometimes doing something crazy helps."

"Well. I don't know what I'd do without you and your shenanigans. So, thank you."

"You're welcome. You done?" He nodded towards my empty mug, prompting me to also nod in response. He leaned forward and grabbed my mug and took both of ours to the kitchen sink. "Come on. Bedtime. You know you can't sleep on the couch, it makes you sore the next morning."

We both got cozy upstairs in his bed and fell asleep, knowing we'd just done something really cool for the kids that play in the park. All the while having a nice break from the monotonous routine of everyday life.
