You ever encounter those things where everything seems 'super' normal until something strange happens and takes you by surprise. Well, that would be what
happened to me one dark humid summer night as I sat on my patio. Sometimes life just throws things in your face just to let you know that your life's not going as perfect as you thought it was. Maybe you just got to be separated from family to really see that there's more to life than just a job and money. That you just go to go through life and death situations with crazy loveable people. Yah, sounds crazy I know.... but its true.

"Space is pretty cool isn't?" Abby whispered to me looking up into the sky one clear dark summer night.

"Yeah," I sighed looing up at the dark sky with the stars sparkling and twinkling down at us. "It fun."

"More than fun, Its extraordinary. To bad we can't go up there and just walk around." She looked at me with a sad look.

"There's good reason for that. I'm sure." I smiled.

My little sister has always been so fascinated with space. Shes always thought its been something that she'll be able to reach someday just like anything down here on earth. Shes got big dreams. Way bigger than mine. She wants to go to NASA. She sees that place as an opportunity to get her up to space. A chance to see whats really up there to possibly find life in space. To help create a life changing invention. But those are all dreams. Dreams she keeps locked away from everyone, even our parents the only one who knows any of her secrets are me. NASA is a big place for such a small town girl shoot, space is even bigger. And is she smart. Smarter than me on most things when it comes to that quick-mind calculating. So whats stopping Abby from being at NASA right now? Well, a few things.

Getting all the degrees you need is one of them. She needs a Masters degree, biological science, physical science, computer science, and engineering or math. Getting all those just to get to into the place will take a while. They can let you in with just a Masters degree but thats less departments you'll get into. The college time will take three years for all that which also takes time but Abby wants this so bad. I believe shes decided to wait till next year when she turns eighteen and when i finish my last year of medical college.

She studies rocket science every night. Stares at the stars. She can take the time to watch the changes in the sky. If you could see her room you would think a bunch of jibbery until she explained it clearly to you and still maybe after that you'd still never understand it the way she does.

My dreams? Pfft. Adalyn's got no dreams compared to Abbys. My plan is to get a degree as a doctor I've been in college since i was seventeen the same age as Abby i'm now twenty-five and almost officially a doctor ready to perform surgery and save lives. How's the love life? Ugh does everyone got to switch to that question? Guess so, seeing my age for most I should be happily married and have three kids. Its not that I don't want a husband or kids its just I'm focusing on myself, get my life finally started. Is that to hard for people to understand?

Our parents are lawyers. So the money isn't much of a stumbling block only our intelligence. Where we get such smart brains i couldn't honestly tell you.

I stared up into the sky realizing i had been staring off but Abby didn't seem to notice to much she continued to just stare at the stars and doodle in her notebook. I watched her eyes go from the stars to the notebook then her hand would work on the sketch. Abby's light tan skin was dimmed in the dark night. Her hand went up to her hair pushing her hazel hair behind her ear. She continued to doodle.

It was getting late probably almost eleven o'clock. I needed to get back my apartment before the time escaped me even more.

"Abby." I whispered toward her.
