The grayhead examined the diamond with the loupe and concluded it was real when he saw inclusions: “Congratulations Mr. DeLuca and Mr. Marcel you have a real gem.”
Immediately after saying this the grayhead’s head blown out. Leonard flinched and turned to Alexander: “What is the meaning of this?”
“Leonard I’m afraid but I have to end our twenty-years relationship.” Alexander pulled out his gun with a silencer and aimed at Leonard.
Leonard angrily shouted: “Cease him” at his two guards present. But they didn’t act at his command he turned his attention to his assistant, but she too ignored him. He laughed loud and harsh: “Your father hid you behind your brother because he was too ashamed to have a foolish son like you.”
Because he’d a satisfying come back Alexander didn’t show how angry the words made him: “I’m a fool but what about you Leonard? This fool killed your son.” Alexander almost moaned in satisfaction watching Leonard’s shocked and hurt facial expression. “And now I’ll kill you just like that. Whose been a fool for the past twenty years?”
Bang… just with one pull of the trigger Leonard, a respected businessman was gone. His eyes still wide open as if he still didn’t believe he was betrayed and fooled for so long.
“We have a special guest,” announced Anna, the raven head that have been Leonard mistress and secretary over the years standing by the one-way glass wall, looking down at the hall below.
Alexander approached the glass wall to get a closer look. He observed his brother confidently entering the room with a woman by his side, effortlessly capturing everyone's attention.
His hands twitched by his side as he observed others making way for Alessandro and his companion. People's eyes would still follow them even after they had passed. Though he would never admit it, after all these years, Alessandro still made him feel insecure. He too had grown and matured over time, but compared to his brother, he felt insignificant. Not only did Alessandro own successful businesses, but the mere mention of his name instilled fear in people, something he aspired to achieve one day.
Late at night, the four of them gathered around a round table. Alessandro sat next to Lily, while Lawanda and Justin sat across from them.
Lily poured herself another glass of wine, catching Alessandro's gaze. He raised an eyebrow, already noticing that she was on her fourth glass for the night. “This will be your last one,” he remarked.
The auctioneer looked down at whatever was on the podium for a brief before lifting his eyes up to the audience: “And the last piece of the night...” he went on to explain the history of the diamond layered necklace with a big yellow gem dangling at the middle displayed on the stage.
Lily who has been uninterested in the auction finally showed interest in the necklace. She wanted it. Not only have been worn by royalties but the necklace itself was beautiful, and she loved beautiful things.
The bidding for the necklace started. Unlike other jewellery pieces that started at thousands this one started at 5 million.
One lady wearing a crazy fur coat despite how hot it was yelled: “20 million.” The audience gasped and looked around to locate the lady.
