Madeline helped me find my sanity. I remember how hard I tried to make her hate me after the fiasco with my humanity. Each passing moment she isn't by my side, the more sanity I lose all over again.
With her, I feel intoxicated. To me, she is my favorite person. I feel at home.
I failed her by not making it on time to give her more herbs. The longer she continues ravaging everything in her path, the more the poison will inundate her cluttered mind.
When she comes back, it will be tough. She will resist my help and believe she does not deserve compassion. But if she could heal my scars, I must do the same and ignore her repetitive objections. Klaus mentioned something about a cure for vampirism. None of us asked for this, but he brought up a question.
"What would you do if Mads took the cure?"
I do not doubt that I want to spend the rest of eternity with her and only her.
If we had an eternity together, I would find new things to love about her daily. But it would be her decision. If she took the cure, I would stick by her side and revel in the time I had left.
She is my fate. Always.
I just wonder if she will feel the same way I do ever again.

A text message from Conner was what gained the redhead's interest. Going against Stefan's plan, Madeline arrived at the front of the Grill. She examined the visible exits, knowing that Conner was going to use his traps. She was there to kill him, not save the hostages. The hunter knew that perfectly well. Playing bait would be worth eradicating her.
The entire block was barricaded, leaving people unaware of the hostage situation. Prepared for an ambush, Madeline began her walk to the abandoned establishment. As if they sensed her upcoming arrival, rock music blared off the walls. She couldn't hear their conversations or their footsteps. Evading a bomb, she skipped past the rigged rug, second-guessing each of her moves.
"Come on out wherever you are, Conner," Madeline demanded, pulling out some daggers from her waistband. Surprising her, Conner revealed himself and shot her legs. He missed. Quick to defend herself, Madeline tossed the knives at his thighs, creating deep slashes. Grunting, he stumbled.
"There you are." Madeline smiled, eyes glowing red. Her annoyance grew as Conner used Jeremy as a human shield. "You're no fun, Conner. Let Jeremy go."
"I thought you didn't care," Conner said, remembering when he overheard a conversation discussing her lack of humanity.
"I don't, but the thought of beating your ass is tempting." Madeline remarked. "I wouldn't want to waste my energy on the wrong person."
"So you don't care if I shoot him at the count of three?" Conner declared, pointing the weapon at Jeremy's head.
Madeline shook her head softly with no compassion in her eyes. "Do it."
"Fine," Conner said. Hesitation evidently engulfed his body, his finger hovering over the trigger with uncertainty. Killing Jeremy meant he would lose a new hunter. His responsibility to kill all vampires weighed on his shoulders, triumphing his desire for someone to understand him. Gulping, Jeremy closed his eyes, accepting his fate. "One, two, three."
