Staying cooped up in her house wasn't something Madeline was willingly going to. Why stay if Elena had just turned into a vampire? Just thinking about tormenting the little brunette brought a wicked smile onto her face.

As soon as she sat down behind Elena, the doppelgänger turned around and asked, "What are you doing here?"

"Well, is this not my school?" Madeline said, looking around the classroom. She recognized it instantly. It was her father's classroom. A particular blonde Original entered with a pile of flyers in her hands. Compelled classmates greeted her the second she set foot inside the room.

"And just like that, I'm no longer feeling sentimental," Elena muttered, her hatred for Rebekah growing.

"Oh, shut up. You aren't so great yourself." Madeline insulted, gaining an intense glare from the eldest Gilbert.

"So I'm throwing a little anti-curfew party at my new house — starts after the fifth period. Spread the word. You're welcome to join, Elena, if you'd like to bury the hatchet." the blonde said. Rebekah handed Elena and Madeline flyers, reviewing their reaction.

"It's a pretty enormous hatchet." Elena declared, making sure the annoyance in her voice was obvious.

"I'm feeling generous of spirit," Rebekah said, rolling her eyes.

"So let me get this straight. You killed my father, which made me turn off my humanity switch, and now you are inviting me to a party?" Madeline said, amused.

Guilt returning, Rebekah rambled, "I just thought —"

"You are pathetic, Rebekah. So fucking desperate for everyone to like you that you've compelled every human here." Madeline uttered, her words hitting Rebekah's heart like nails.

"Excuse me?" Rebekah said. She furrowed her brows, astonished that Madeline, out of people, had said that.

"You heard me." Madeline retorted, acting as if nothing happened.

"Did your brother finally kick you out?" Elena mentioned, recalling the part Rebekah said she attained a new place to call home.

"He didn't kick me out. I left." Rebekah denied, refusing to back down from Elena.

"So you left the only person on earth that actually likes you?" Elena inquired.

"Well, Damon had sex with me once. Actually, a lot more than once." Rebekah said, smiling when she noticed Elena's ticked-off expression. Despite not saying one of her best comebacks, she knew it would provoke a reaction out of Elena. Incapable of keeping her rising emotions under control, Elena gripped her pencil and attempted to chuck it at Rebekah's chest. She easily caught it and redirected it, piercing it into Elena's shoulder.

As the bell rang, Elena gasped in pain and yanked it out, wishing she could whack the smirk off Rebekah's face.

"What were you thinking, Elena? Taking on an Original when you're a fresh vampire?" Madeline chuckled, watching the blonde walk away to her compelled friend.

Elena grumbled. "Shut up." Little did the brunette know, she would regret her snarky retort.
