Mornings together always fooled them. It lent them false hope and convinced them that today would be different. Stefan stretched out his arms, repressing a yawn. Her red hair was sprawled over his chest, and he smiled at the smell of her strawberry-scented shampoo.

Memories of what happened the night before emerged as his fingertips trailed up her bare spine. "It's about time you wake up," Madeline mumbled, having been open-eyed for quite a long time. She hadn't moved in fear of awakening Stefan.

Her phone was in her hand as it played a movie. "You're watching Tangled again?"

"Are you disrespecting one of the best movies of all time?" Madeline scoffed jokingly, knowing Stefan loved it just as much as she did.

"I'm not. What's disrespecting is the fact that you are watching it without me!" Stefan claimed, sending her a playful glare. She smiled widely, amused by his horrible attempt at acting annoyed.

"You snooze, you lose, Stefano." Madeline shrugged, rolling away from him to continue watching the movie by herself. She chuckled when he scooted back to her side, eyeing the movie over her shoulder.

"Okay, ultimate test. Flynn or me?" Stefan inquired.

Without a slight inkling of hesitation, Madeline replied, "Oh, Flynn. One hundred percent, no questions asked."

"Wow," Stefan said, making sure his voice was laced with faked disappointment.

Madeline smiled at his reaction. "Sorry, but if given the opportunity, I'll take it. Have you seen the man and his smolder?"

"He's a fictional character," Stefan argued.

"So?" Madeline raised a brow. "You have an obsession with Wanda."

"Well, that's because she looks like you," Stefan explained, pressing a kiss on her temple.

In between a fake cough, Madeline muttered. "Obsessed." She cleared her throat. "Sorry. I must be coming down with something."

"I am not obsessed with you." Stefan lied.

Madeline chuckled, pressed pause on the movie, and grabbed his phone off the side table. The moment she took hold of it, his lock screen called out his obvious fib. It was a picture of Madeline with a wide smile on her face, and the background was their favorite cafe that resided just outside of Mystic Falls. She had some whipped cream on her upper lip, making it seem like she had a mustache. Two strands of hair framed her face while the rest were fastened back by a hair clip.

"That proves nothing," Stefan muttered. Since she had his face id on his phone, it opened the second she showed her face. She revealed his camera roll, specifically his loved photos.

It contained only photos of him and Madeline together on dates. "So, Mr. Salvatore, how do you plead?" She turned off his phone and handed it to him, assuming she had all the evidence she needed. Her body was now facing him, awaiting his answer.

Stefan grumbled, "Guilty."

Madeline hummed in confusion, holding her hand near her ear. "Wait, sorry. I didn't quite get that. What did you say?"
