Both of them stopped dead like they were in a trance. Truth is, Ash was probing its memory. Checking past events. The deviant's memory was faint, barely anything yet - a clear image. First was the bar, Sean - the victim - badmouthing androids and sitting next to the deviant, followed by the deviant buying him a drink, which it tampered with. Then the memory faded, Ash saw himself, he felt how the android felt when it saw him. When the android was shot by Liv, he felt it. He felt the simulated pain that the deviant experienced, he felt the anger it had towards that man, the hatred it had for humans. It felt like he was beside the android in all of these experiences. Like he was in all these experiences. All that happened in a second before he heard sirens from a police car pulling up on the road. The deviant's stress level was 93%, it was clearly trying to escape Ash's grasp. Ash let go, and then grabbed both of its hands, holding them behind its back.
'PLEASE! Please..' The deviant dropped its head, falling silent.
'LIV?' He called, looking around for the sirens. From a distance, the android could hear Liv leading a small group of officers to the location of the deviant.
'Let me go. Please.' The deviant whispered, showing no signs of attack or resistance. Ash shook his head, awaiting Liv's arrival. >> Software Instability: Increased.<<
'Over here!' Liv yelled to the group of officers as she ran towards the sound of Ash's voice.
'Liv! I got the deviant.' he called. 'It's the one from the bar.' Liv hurried to the detective android's location with her group of officers ready to capture the deviant. As they approached the two androids the deviant began to panic more. The deviant stayed deathly silent, which is somewhat ironic, as it can't truly die.
'Ash! C'mon let's get this thing in cuffs.' The deviant's eyes widened.
Two more officers in uniform grabbed the deviant roughly and put it in clunky futuristic handcuffs.
Ash let go of the deviant and stood there observing the machine. 'You okay?' The Lieutenant asked, 'I'm okay.' The android looked at the officers checking the deviant for weapons 'Be careful with the deviant, it is under high stress. We don't know what it could-'
'Shut it ya plastic asshole we know what to do.' One of the officers yelled.
'Hey leave him alone, Smith, he's warning you.' Liv snapped, looking at the officer with a glare before returning her eyes back to Ash. 'What happened?'
'I probed it, I learnt that the deviant tampered with the victim's drink.' Ash looked down at his hand.
'We'll have to bring him into interrogation, they won't go on just an Android's word for a case involving a deviant.'
'Understood, Lieutenant.'
'Are you okay? You keep staring at your hand.' Liv nudged the android and squinted.
'I can't be okay, I am an android. It affects the touch of my hand when I probe things so it has an odd feeling to it.'
'I thought you said android's can't feel things.' she just had a pure look of confusion.
'Emotionally no, physically yes.' the android said, he looked at Liv before she just shook her head and walked away. The deviant was dragged to a police car, it refused to move after Ash had caught it. Ash felt- he didn't feel anything. All he knew is that his mission was halfway done, and now they had to interrogate the deviant. They slowly returned, getting in the car and driving to the station.
