"Batata! Wait up!" Luz hollered, watching her girlfriend eagerly run.
"I can't!" Amity yelled back! She was smiling widely, "I can't believe you have a whole month to celebrate Pride. And a parade! I don't want to miss a thing!"
"Wait, you don't have any Pride events on the Boiling Isles?" Luz asked as she finally caught up to Amity. Amity shook her head furiously. "Oh. In that case, let's hurry up!"
As they got to the Pride Parade, Amity and Luz's jaw dropped.
There were so many pretty people, all shapes and sizes. Holding hands, talking amidst a beautiful scene of queerness.
"We're meeting Vee and her girlfriend here," Luz glanced around, taking everything in.
"Who's she?" Amity followed Luz's gaze.
"No idea," Luz answered. Then, her face brightened, "Oh there they are! Hi Vee!" She rapidly waved her hand. Vee caught up to Luz and Amity.
"Hey, guys! Meet my girlfriend, Amber!" Vee said as Luz froze, then started fidgeting uncomfortably.
"What's wrong, Luz?" Amity looked at Luz worriedly as Amber waved shyly, looking down.
"It's nothing, batata," Luz reassured Amity, "It's just that..."
"Luz and I used to date," Amber filled in, still looking at her shoes. She then looked up at Amity, "Hi, I'm Amber!"
Cue the awkward tension, both Vee and Amity thought.
The rest of the day was just a competition between Luz and Amber.
"Hey, Vee! Remember that time when we rescued a baby goat? We really connected then," Amber bragged, swinging Vee's hand.
"Oh, well Amity! Remember that time when we defeated Grom? We were so in sync!" Luz pointed out, swinging Amity's hand in the same manner.
It kept going.
"Well one time we..."
"Oh please, we..."
"I'm a better girlfriend..."
"Ha, yeah right, one time we..."
Amity and Vee had had enough. They walked ahead of their bickering girlfriends.
"What should we do," Amity whisper-hissed.
"I don't know," Vee whispered back, "Maybe they'll stop eventually."
So Amity and Vee set out to ignore their girlfriends, but soon, they were interrupted.
"Hey, why aren't you listening to us? I was just telling Luz about the time we-" Amber was cut off by Luz.
"Oh please, what about that time Amity and I saved the whole Boiling Isles?" Luz stuck her tongue out at Amber.
"Alright, enough!" Amity shouted. Luz and Amber froze. "This was supposed to be a fun day! But instead you two just had to bicker."
"It's true, Amber" Vee added in, "The last time you were this worked up was when someone stole your favorite hairbrush."
"Just stop fighting so we can salvage the rest of the day," Amity finished, crossing her arms and looking away.
Luz gasped, "No, don't be mad!"
Amity chuckled, "I'm not. Just don't do it again." Vee nodded in agreement and Amber pouted, hugging her girlfriend.
The very last minutes of the parade were spent in contentness.
"I'm just saying though, I snatched up the hotter twin, am I right, Vee?"
"OH I'LL KILL YOU!"
