"Meow," Ghost sighed as he waited for Amity to pour his food.
"Meow," Ghost sighed as he waited for Amity to clean his litter.
"Meow," Ghost sighed as he waited for Amity to pet him.
It seemed now a days, he had to wait for everything. Like he was a burden to Amity.
"Bye, Willow! Bye Gus! Bye Vee!" Amity yelled as she rushed out the door with Luz, giggling.
Ghost sat in the corner, alone. The rest of the Palismen were laughing in the other room. He stayed there, until Flapjack came along.
Flapjack tweeted in concern. Then, he fluttered Hunter, who was reading on the couch. He chirped to Hunter, pointing his beak to the lonely cat.
Hunter slowly approached Ghost, then touched his fingers to Ghost's head. Ghost purred, rubbing himself against Hunter, and he was then reminded of his hunger. He meowed to convey his message, and Hunter caught the drift.
He brought food to Ghost and fondly watched as Ghost ate it all up quickly, then looked up at him, smiling.
"You're so cute! Has Amity ever told you that recently?" Hunter brushed his hand against Ghost's cheek.
Ghost, in return, shook his head.
This went on for days. Hunter took care of Ghost while he faded from Amity's attention.
One day, as all the humans were out, Ghost was sitting in the very same corner, thinking.
Amity didn't really like care for him, but Hunter did.
Meanwhile, Hunter was walking with Amity.
"Ya know, I always wondered, how did you pick Ghost out?" Hunter asked slowly.
"Hmm? Oh, Ghost. I mean, I guess we connected," Amity shrugged the question off.
"Yeah," Hunter scratched the back of his head, "I've noticed, as of late, you haven't really taken care of him."
"What?" Amity was surprised, "I care about him a lot, it's just that I can finally spend some time with Luz, and besides, Ghost can take care of himself. I mean, how else could he have been so happy lately?"
"Because I was taking care of him!" Hunter snapped, "While you were giggling and blushing at Luz, and you didn't even bat an eye at your own Palisman!"
"What?" Amity crossed her arms, then walked ahead of Hunter to catch up to Luz.
When the humans arrived home, Willow rushed to greet Clover. Gus was already hugging his Palisman, as was Hunter.
Amity had been thinking about what Hunter said, so she called out, "Ghost! Ghost, my baby, come here!" Ghost perked up at the sound of his name, but instead of running to Amity, he started nuzzling Hunter's leg.
Amity watched as Ghost happily meowed at Hunter, without paying attention to her.
She knew she had made a mistake.
And she knew how to fix it.
