A nice sunny day Elder Kettle singing a song to himself about his garden "I love my little veggies they're my babies, I would say I sprinkle them with love and care each and every day I shine their little veggie skin and chase away the bugs I give them water and manure and lots and lots of hugs though you are just babies now merely bud and twig if I give you all you need you'll grow to be so big!" He sang as his back broke making a crack sound "Ow! My back!"
He yelled in pain falling backwards "Oh, my babies! I fed them, I nursed them, I kept them alive without me, they're doomed" he sobbed a bit "Don't worry, Elder Kettle we'll take care of your babies" Cuphead said patting Elder Kettle on the head putting his hand up "Here let me fluff your pillow" Cuphead fluffed his pillow "Can I get you some soup?"
Mugman asked "I'll make you your favorite tea" you said with a smile "You three are being awfully helpful you're up to something I've got me eye on-" he was about to say something but fell asleep he snored as steams came out "Out like a light let's scram and catch that picture show"
Cuphead said whispering to you and Mugman you all ran out the house laughing Mugman getting a shocked face like he just remembered something You and Cuphead were still running as Cuphead pushed the door opened Mugman grabbing you two by your handles pulling you back "Hey we gotta make tracks if we're gonna make the five o'clock"
Cuphead said annoyed "Kettle's garden we promised we'd take care of his babies feed 'em nurture them kinda like how he took care of us when we were babies" Mugman said feeling bad now as you and Cuphead felt the same way too "Yeah he raised us like if we were his own" You adding to Mugman comment Cuphead face palm as he groaned "Why's you two have to go and say it like that?"
He leaned on the gate door just hanging off it as you grabbed his handle pulling him towards the garden as you three sat there watching over the garden Cuphead looking angry who's Mugman looked really bored and you were looking at the sky bored out of your mind "Blurgh noting interesting ever happens around here" Cuphead said bored as three shadowy figures can be seen tip-toeing somewhere Mugman sighed "You can say that again"
Mugman agreeing "Wish something good will happened right now" you added hearing a crash inside the shack as you walked slowly towards it Cuphead carrying a shovel while Mugman had a rake and you had a cleaver as you can hear munching inside Mugman and you going to the other side while Cuphead stood on the other Cuphead opening the door as you saw a carrot, onion and potato eating the soil "Hey!" Cuphead yelled out as the vegetables gasped turning around
"All right, get out here!" Cuphead yelled at the vegetables came out "Okay, what gives?" Cuphead asked "We're real sorry, mister we don't mean to bother youse We's just some, uh, down-on-our-luck vegatbles I'm Sal this Ollie and that's Chauncey" Sal introduce himself and his friends the carrot laughed "Yeah we don't got nowheres to call home"
Chauncey said "We're, uh, orphans yeah, that's it orphans" Sal said smiling like he was telling a lie "Wait! We're orphans?!" Ollie said sadly "That's so sad" he was about to cry "Hey! Ease up on the waterworks, will you? The last thing we need is you peeling all over the place then we'll all start crying!" Sal said "I'm sorry, Sal! It's just- you know, it's such a sad story!" Ollie said sadly
"Don't mind him he gets uh, emotional listen, all we're asking for is a little bit of soil to rest our weary roots just for one night what do you say, eh?" Sal asked the three of you "We'd love to help, we gotta keep an eye on Elder Kettle's boring, old vegetables garden" he said pointing at the garden as he groaned "Elder Kettle takes his garden very seriously" You said "They're his babies" Mugman added
"If anything happened to 'em" Cuphead said "He'd be heartbroken" Mugman added "Well, heck no one takes better care of veggies than veggies" he nudged Ollie "Yeah we can help you " Chauncey "You could?" Cuphead asked "You would?" You asked "Sure just let us handle that garden while the three of youse go have fun night on the town"
