That night I laid in bed wide awake, tossing and turning.
"I can't take this anymore." I murmured, getting up.
I slipped out of the room as quietly as possible, with my cloak loosely draped around me.
I crept down the hall wandering around aimlessly. I never even realized someone was calling my name.
"Jinkyong." Said someone whirling me around.
"Hyunok? Oh...sorry I wasn't paying attention..." I said, not meeting her gaze, I hadn't told her about Kwangmin and I didn't intend to any time soon.
"What are you doing walking around like this? You stepped on that girl's cape when she was sitting down. Did you not hear her swear at you?" She said.
"Hm, oh no..." I looked over Hyunok's shoulder at a girl, Micha? I don't remember completely, although it is my duty to know everyone's name by heart. She was looking at me with a furious glare and I was almost scared she would lunge at me and rip my throat out.
I may not know everyone's name but I know how the act very well. I'm the second oldest here, and I know everyone inside out, just not their names....
I mouthed the words mianhae and looked back at Hyunok.
"Anyways, what's up with you?" She said sitting me down in a near by sofa.
"I'm not sure..." I lied, "I'm just a bit off I guess."
Thank god I could build up a barrier or els she would be able to listen to my thoughts and I'd be done.
"Hm, well maybe you just need some fresh air, come on, let's go for a walk by the lake."
~
As Hyunok and I were walking by the lake, talking about things in our lives we needed to deal with something made a huge splash from behind us. I whirled around looking at the ripples and small waves what ever went in -or out- of the water made."What the hell...? What do you think made that?" Asked Hyunok pulling out a small dagger that each Hooded One has to carry with them at all times.
"I don't know...but I want to find out." I said jogging over to the place of the splash.
"No, Jinkyong!" I heard Hyunok cry from behind me.
This is what it was always like. We grew up together, me being a little bit older, but I was always so much more destructive then Hyunok. When we would play games like tag with the other kids the adults kept having to remind me not to play too rough, because I was sure to draw blood.
I ignored her warning and proceeded on, carefully examining the place where the splash occurred. There was foot prints of someone, from what it looked like it seemed to be a male who was running from something. The tracks weren't too abnormal so it wasn't a member of BF because they run faster with inhuman strides. Thank god.
"It looks like he jumped." I said over to Hyunok who was now standing by my side ready to catch me if I fell into the water.
"Great, let's leave before we end up down there too." She said starting to drag me away.
"Wait," I pulled my arm free from her grasp, "we should try and save him, it looks like he was terrified out of his mind." I gestured over to the pieces of ripped clothing, dangling loosely within the branches.
"Well, then we can go get some back up if this is so important to you."
"No, no. I can handle it." I carefully removed my cloak, and my over shirt I had slipped on earlier. Leaving me in a tank top and my pyjama shorts.
"No, Jinkyong I have a really bad feeling about this." said Hyunok in protest.
"Hyunok, I'll be fine, if anything goes wrong I'll just telepathically scream for help and you can get back up, we're only a few minuets away from the castle, and when running only a few seconds." I said taking a step back, ready to dive in.
"No Jinkyo-"
Before Hyunok could finish I was already in the water looking around.
Lucky for me, being on the council meant I got special treatment. Leader had given all of us night vision and it reacted differently with me, which gave me the ability to see clearly anywhere I went, whether it meant I was under water and it was pitch black dark, or I was in a dark cave with nothing but the shine of the walls covered in a thin layer of water to guide me.
I looked about, seeing all the little creatures who lurked in the night. I looked past a small clump of seaweed and saw what looked like a shoe.
It's only been here a few minuets...it's probably that guy's.
I swam deeper, not needing to rise up for air, and spotted what looked like a light.
Hyunok, I see something that looks like a man-made light, I'm going to check it out, and if it's nothing then I'll come back up and we can head back. Okay?
Fine, but hurry, and be careful.
As I came closer I found that the light was coming from a small ledge where I saw a body curled up holding some sort of device. I swam closer, as quietly as possible and the figure slowly turned towards me.
I-it's alive? Or is it limp and just turning because of the current.
Wait.
I-is that...Jinkwang?
~
