Plot: lesbian, romance, mention of Vitiligo
That day when she crossed the street. With the bottle of scotch in her hand. She felt being watched. The countryside is a quiet one. She turned to look at the moon. The breeze made her hair flow like the endless streams of the river. Her eyes sparkled as the lighting bugs flew. It is a matter of time before they leave. As she walks through the mountain side. In the distance she could hear a snap of a branch. As she left the woods. Her mind raced. As the night got darker. The eyes shined brighter in the wood lines. That day she felt as if she knew those eyes. Even though she didn't.
The next morning she went into the woods. Listening to squirrels and the birds. She felt being watched once more. As she turned her head she saw someone walking towards her. Her smile grew and her words were gentle. "I'm sorry for bothering you. I just went to explore the woods. I just moved down here so it's nice to meet you," the lady said. Her smooth French accent. Terrified her. Her green that pierced through her like a hungry wolf. Made her want to run Yet she pushed back her gut feeling. "I'm maria, I actually live close by." As she talked to her the feeling of fear. Some natural instinct was trying. "Well I'm Anne, and it's a pleasure to meet you. But unfortunately I must be on my way." As she took her leave. Her thick long red hair shined. As it bounced off her black dress. As she turned she couldn't help but feel dread. Like she made a deal. But for what? Why did she want to run? Why did she have such a strong gut feeling, like something bad was going to happen?
As the day started once more. The mirror showed once again her reflection. Her hazel on the right and on the left was her brown eye. The cow pattern skin, brown and white. She hated it. And the memories that it gave her. How people treated her. As she shoved on shirt. She couldn't help but to think. Of the past. She heard the knocking from the door. Went to see who it was. As she opened the door it turned out to be Anne. She had a wooden basket. "I brought over some sweets and tarts,"said Anne. "Thank you. You can come in if you want. I'll get some water boiling for the tea,"said Maria. As they entered the home. Small wooden cabin looked to be enough room for 3 people. Well maybe more. As the kettle started. Anne took out some sweets. "We have macaroons and plamier there a type of cookies. Meringue cookies, lemon cake bites, kouign-amann and Petit four I guessed you can consider a type of cupcake,"said Anne. Her accent mixes the words. She could barely understand the names of the desserts. Sure she heard of macaroons, and lemon cake bites. She knew a couple of them. She guessed that Anne got excited so her accent got thicker. She just assumed that she didn't really know anyone. So she felt bad and let her in. Even though the gut feeling came back. She didn't know why. "Well I'm always up to try new foods,"said Maria. As she took out sugar, honey and the earl grey tea that she had. Took out two mugs. As she did, the kettle went off. She turned off the stove then as she picked up the kettle. She turned and looked at Anne "Is earl grey find with you?"asked Maria. "Yes it is. Thank you,"said Anne. She made her tea. Then brought over both of the mugs, and then went back for the sugar and honey. As she laid the items in front of her. She saw her eyes turn a brighter shade of green. But she shrugged it off. It could been the light. Or lack sleep messing with her. "Are you alright? It seems like something is on your mind?"asked Anne. "Just thinking about work. So are you from Paris?"asked Maria. "Yes I am. Have you been anywhere?"asked Anne. "Not really. I lived here my whole life,"said Maria. "What a shame. I thought a modle like you. Would've traveled to a place," said Anne. "What? No I'm not a model,"said Maria. "My mistake. I just assumed by your looks,"said Anne. "It's no problem,"said Maria. "Well guess we're I work?"said Anne. Well her pale complexion I would have to say. At least some kind of indoor job. Her hands don't look beaten up. Since she's from France it has to be a traveling job. Well maybe she just got transferred. "A lawyer?"asked Maria. "No. But I'll give you a hint. I have to put up my hair. I usually wear a white robe,"said Anne. "A doctor?"asked a surprised Maria. "Yes,"said Anne. Anne just giggled. Maybe it was her expression. "Sorry. I just didn't expect you to be a doctor,"said Maria. "No. It's quite alright. For some reason. No one expects me to be a doctor. It's quite funny actually,"said Anne. She sounded so happy. Yet something seemed to be off. As they finished their tea. She left. What game was she playing at? Maybe she was just overreacting. After all it could just be all the murder mysteries she was reading. Or the reports of missing people in the area. It was strange after all. No one here seemed to be fond of kidnapping. There was really no crime in the area. So maybe since it's a bunch of teenagers. They just ran away. Parents must have spoiled them rotten. At the end of the day. She just laid down.
She awoke the next day. Hearing the crows screaming. She went outside to see what was going on. There were a lot of crows gathered in the sky. Circling something. It must have been a carcass of an animal. Hunters threw their remains in the woods all the time. But she had a feeling. Like she needed to see what it was. She just shrugged it off and got ready for work. As she left she couldn't help but think. That something deeper was going on.
She went to walk in the woods. It's been a couple of weeks since she saw the crows. As she went into the woods. She saw Anne standing near the river. It seemed as if she was watching the stream. As she walked closer. Anne turned around. "Hello. I wasn't expecting you dear. You scared me,"said Anne. "Sorry I didn't mean to. But what are you doing out this late?"asked Maria. "I just came to watch the river. It always seems to ease my mind. What are you doing?"asked Anne. "It's just been awhile since I had the chance to go in the woods. After all those crows were circling something for a while there,"said Maria. "It must have been a deer. Since how many there were,"asked Anne. "No telling,"said Maria. As she stood there she swore something didn't seem right.
The next day came around with a knock on the door. Anne was standing there with a bundle of flowers. They became friends. All the strange gut feelings. Instincts went away too. She couldn't explain why. But she knew there was nothing to worry about. "I thought you would need something to lighten up this room,"said Anne. She put the flowers in a vase and put them on the kitchen table. "Well you're the only one that comes here,"said Maria. "Why is that?"asked Anne. "It's not important,"said Maria. "I'm sorry I shouldn't have asked,"said Anne. "It's fine,"said Maria. She stared at the lilies in the vase. They looked similar to tiger eyes. It's been a while since she saw flowers that looked like that. Well at least in person. "Well what's with the flower?"asked Maria. "I thought maybe we could go into the woods. I found a waterfall that I think you would like,"said Anne. "That sounds nice,"said Maria. As they walked through the woods. She saw Anne smile. Her teeth, well she had two sharp canines. "Your teeth,"whispered Maria. "Yes I know. I wanted to tell you but. I guess I shouldn't. I'm a vampire, a monster,"said Anne. "No. That's not what I was going to say,"said Maria. "Why aren't you scared?"asked Anne. "Maybe because you're the first person to treat me like an equal. That didn't treat me like a freak to my skin condition. Or call me a cow,"said Maria. "You're beautiful. Humans are just assholes. They say shit makes themselves feel better,"said Anne. "But look at me. Their right," Maria was cut off by Anne. "No they are not. They are jealous of the beauty they can't have. Everything about you is unique. Your beauty, pride, voice. You're gorgeous who gives damn what others say,"said Anne. She held out her hand. As Maria took it. She realized it was a necklace. It looked old but it also looked expensive. Beautiful actually. "Will you be my girlfriend,"asked Anne. "Yes. That would be nice,"said Maria.
