— 𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍 𝐏𝐀𝐔𝐋 𝐓𝐎𝐋𝐃 her he'd give her a ride to the Cullens — she hadn't realized he'd meant on his back. The boy in question smirked when he noticed the shocked look on her face. "C'mon babe! Said you wanted to come, right?"
Willow glared at her boyfriend in slight irritation. "Paul."
"Willow." He retorted.
"You're joking." She crossed her arms and shifted just enough for one hip to be cocked out.
"Afraid not, Sinclair." Paul laughed, and Willow just barely stopped herself from letting her smile show. Shaking her head, she uncrossed her arms and sighed good-naturedly. "You're lucky I'm dating you, Lahote."
"Truer words have not been spoken." He smirked once more. "Now hop on."
And then suddenly Willow wasn't staring at her boyfriend anymore — but rather, a six-foot tall, giant grey wolf who somehow looked like it was still smirking.
"Asshole," Willow whispered, the fondness in her voice taking away the sentiment of the word.
In response — Paul only bowed his large, fluffy head to the ground so she could climb on, and she huffed out a breath.
"Well, this is gonna be interesting."
— 𝐁𝐘 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐓𝐈𝐌𝐄 they reached the appointed meeting spot with the Cullens, Willow was too amazed at the journey there to remember her anger with Edward.
Her mind was still focused on what it was like seeing the different shades of green blurring past her as the wind traveled through her hair, and she carefully climbed off of Paul once he lowered himself to get as close to the ground as possible while remaining alert.
Only when her feet were firmly planted on solid ground once more, did Willow remember herself.
She stiffened slightly and ignored the feeling of Edward's burning stare. And when she felt Paul move that much closer to her — Embry sandwiching her on the other side...well, she could hardly find a reason to object.
"Welcome, and thank you for meeting us." Carlisle greeted the pack, only receiving blank stares in response.
"I trust that you will allow my son to translate for you?" The blonde man posed the question as if there was no other option for an answer — in which he would be wrong, Willow thought.
They could always have Sam or even Jacob shift back to human form to speak for the pack.
From the corner of her eye, she saw Edward shift at her thoughts, and she just barely stopped herself from snapping at him.
At the end of the day, he was still her friend. A friend she just so happened to really wanna strangle at the moment — but a friend nonetheless.
By the time Willow managed to push away her thoughts of strangling Edward, she realized the meeting had begun, and looked to Jasper — the only vampire out of the Cullens that had fought newborns before. As she tried to pay attention to the blonde, she couldn't help but let her eyes glance at Edward for a moment, and found him already looking at her.
If she could've guessed, she figured her murderous thoughts of him probably weren't helping the fight they were in, and smiled sheepishly. It was only a really tiny part of her that wanted to commit some violence against him after all, and it wasn't like she would actually act on her impulsive thoughts.
After a moment longer in which he continued to read her thoughts, he returned a small smile and then focused on Jasper once more.
Willow did the same, and prepared herself for the long period of time she would have to continue standing for.
Bummer.
— 𝐎𝐍𝐂𝐄 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐌𝐄𝐄𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 was done, Willow was all too eager to go home.
There had very well been a couple of times where Paul almost lost his cool on Edward and Bella because he caught them staring at Willow for just a second too long for his liking — but luckily, the brunette had been able to calm him down every time.
At the very least, the Sinclair girl knew that her aching feet were not for nothing.
Just as she was about to climb onto Paul's back, Edward called out to her. "Lola. Can we talk?"
All eyes — both vampire and wolf alike, shifted to the bronze-haired boy, before looking to her for a response.
Willow paused in thought and looked at Paul when a low growl emitted from his throat. "Can this wait, Edward?" She asked tiredly.
"Please." Was all she got in response.
Sighing, she nodded. "Fine. But make this quick, please. I wanna go home."
Paul slinked off into the bushes to go and phase, while Edward approached Willow.
"Lola. I'm sorry."
She clenched her jaw for a moment, before glaring at the taller boy. "You suck. No pun intended — because you literally suck animal blood, but that's beside the point!" She rambled slightly.
To his credit, Edward managed to keep a straight face.
"Maybe you're right to lead Victoria to the mountains, maybe you're wrong. I don't know." She paused. "But what I do know, is that you are leaving my family to fight your battle. Yours and Bella's."
He shifted a step closer to her, arm coming out to rest on her shoulder lightly. "I swear to you, Lola, I would not leave your family and mine to fight on their own if I wasn't sure I could kill Victoria. Our families can handle themselves quite efficiently, and I am confident that everything will work out just fine."
"Your confidence doesn't change the fact that they are going up against a literal vampire army. Your confidence doesn't make that okay." She paused and watched the way he seemed to deflate a little.
"But at the end of the day, you're still my friend. Once the battle is over, I won't be nearly as pissed off as I am right now. But until then, don't count on me being nice." She kept it honest, knowing he would just read her mind anyways.
Edward nodded. "Alright. I can respect that, Lola. You're a-"
"Get your hands off of her!" The sound of Paul's angry voice suddenly cut through the peaceful silence that had taken over the forest.
Willow looked from a shaking Paul to an equally as agitated Edward and sighed.
This wasn't gonna be good.
