Chapter 4

Even though Zephyr hurt me and he was a demon for some reason I believed he was a good person.
I decided to sleep early because my head was spinning like crazy. I slowly woke up and rubbed my eyes and yawned. I stretched my arms out to stretch until suddenly something cold touched my neck. It was chilly cold and it sent chills down my spine. I jumped out of bed frantically searching for what was touching me.
I sat down on my bed and Zayn suddenly appeared. "Zayn what are you doing here?"I said. "Am I not allowed to visit my wife "he said caressing my face. I smacked his hand away "I am not yet your wife so please can you exit my room your highness "with the fake smile.
His expression turned into a sour one. "Listen Asteria soon you are going to be my wife and I don't appreciate my wife to be disobedient. You should be thrilled that I came to visit you "he said. "Oh I am ecstatic "I said sarcastically. I immediately felt a hot slap on my face. "I don't like your toned Asteria "he gritted out.
"Disobedient wives need to be punished,it's your fault that I hit you ". Before I could reply back Zayn slapped me again but harder this time. This left me bleeding and gasping for air. "Get back the dinner party I want you to attend"he said before disappearing again. When I regained my composure I decided to change out of my nightclothes and put on some makeup. I went downstairs and greeted my guests. Everyone started chatting and smiling and laughing as usual.
After several hours it became evening. I was invited to sit next to my father and brother. My father was talking to my mother and she looked radiant and charming as ever. My brother was also looking handsome. I noticed that he didn't look as happy to see me today as he usually does when my father and I come to visit. Suddenly the door opened and Zayn walked in. His presence caused quite a stir among the guests. He walked up to my father and bowed. I watched as he spoke with my father quietly. I didn' t want to listen, but I still managed to hear a few words.
"Father, we must talk" my father nodded. He stood up and motioned for Zayn to follow him. Zayn and my father left the hall leaving my family behind. I quickly excused myself and followed them too. I caught up with them by the stables. The moment I got close enough I could clearly hear my father speaking. "Master everything is going according to your plan,soon you will be wedded to Priestess Asteria". I then noticed his eyes were red it could mean one thing he was being controlled.
I gasped in shock, I then accidentally tripped over something causing me to make a sound.
They both turned to me . "Oh I was just taking a walk outside, I didn't expect to see you here "I said pretending that I didn't hear anything. "Oh Asteria I was just talking to Zayn we decided that you get married tomorrow because it would be the perfect time since the stars would be aligned in your favour",father explained to me. My heart dropped even harder knowing that the wedding was tomorrow. "That's great"I replied while forcing a fake smile on my lips. They both nodded and went into another direction and I stayed where I stood unable to move. "Asteria" a deep voice called. I whipped my head and I saw it was Zephyr.
"What are you doing here you monster! ",I demanded. "I am here to apologise. I am sorry that I attacked you,I just lost my temper,I could never hurt you on purpose" . He sounded so sincere that I couldn't believe it, maybe he really was a good man. Maybe...just maybe I might actually like him if he was really kind. "Well I forgive you,but why did you attack me?" I inquired. "It's a story for another day,let's go inside first. You look exhausted "he suggested taking my hand. I nodded and led the way inside the palace and to my bedroom.
"Asteria don't marry Zayn he's not the person you think he is " Zephyr warned me before opening my door. "Zayn has been nothing but nice to me,he's the nicest human I've known and he loves me" I responded as I entered my room. "He told you that he loved you and wants to marry you which means that there is nothing between you and Zayn ". I then remembered him slapping me and the mind control of my father. "Listen Asteria you can run away with me" before I could answer Zayn walked into the room and he looked very displeased. "What are you doing here demon!"he growled. "Ha between you and me who's the real demon",Zephyr said with a smirk on his face which only infuriated Zayn even more. "What do you mean by that?!", he shouted at him. Zephyr shrugged and walked out of the room.

Leaving me with Zayn who was burning with anger. "Didn't I tell you I don't like disobedient wives. Maybe slapping you wasn't enough "he said with fury in eyes which turned to crimson. I backed away from him slowly, afraid. I was terrified of Zayn. I thought about running away or hiding somewhere, but my legs wouldn't respond. I was frozen in place and he took my silence as a sign to continue.
He then grabbed my wrist forcefully and I tried to resist but he was stronger than I thought so I had to let go of my wrist. "You know I love you Asteria. I love you so much that you can't imagine, but what happens if you're not good enough and if someone else gets their hands on you? Do you even know the kind of danger you're putting yourself in? You belong to me,I own you, and I don't care how much you struggle to fight me,I'm strong enough to hold you forever". He took my other hand and held it in both of his. His thumb grazed my knuckles making shivers went down my spine. "I won' t lose you"he whispered before grabbing my chin and kissing me roughly on the lips.
I was shocked. Did Zayn just kiss me?? My eyes widened. What happened to the gentle angel who kissed me softly every now and then? This man was completely different. As Zayn pulled away from the kiss I was already confused. Just then he pushed me and I landed on my bed "But you betrayed me and for that you need to be punished "he said in a menacing tone. I sat there watching him pace around me. He seemed angry but I don't understand why he was mad. He grabbed me harshly by the throat choking me. I struggled in his grip trying to push him off me but he just tightened his grasp.
I tried scratching him with my claws but I couldn't feel my wolf or even my powers. "Oh you want to use your powers? "he said in a taunting tone. "You can't I have been secretly giving you poison to weaken your magic and now you won't be able to do any magic at all". Oh no what had happened to my powers??
"So that's it huh? I can't use my powers anymore but you'll take advantage of me and rape me" I questioned hoping that I was right. "Raping you? Where's the fun in that?I have something much worse planned." He chuckled evilly. I knew he meant killing me. "If my power goes down I will die" I cried out. He gave a cruel laugh and squeezed my neck tighter. My eyes bulge out and blood starts flowing out of my mouth. "Don't worry,you will live. I promise you that ". Then he took out a whip and I screamed in pain as it came into contact with my skin. He started whipping me and I began crying uncontrollably, "Stop stop please!" I begged, trying in vain to block the blows coming from the whip. "You know this is how I punish disobedient wives ". My tears soaked the pillow and soon I heard him yell out in satisfaction "Yes yes you did well! ".
He then heal my wounds "I don't want anybody to suspect a thing plus I want my bride to look as beautiful as ever", he declared. "Now I will be seeing you tomorrow in a very short amount of time", He then left the room without saying a word. I sobbed in agony clutching onto the pillows. How could things get so bad so fast?

Well that's a wrap for this chapter. Personally I hate Zayn already. I know I am the writer so I shouldn't hate my characters but that's not the case. I hope Zephyr comes and save Asteria 😞.
