An intoxicating aroma swirls around the main room of Lassiter's house. A group of candles are lit on the table that has two place setting, Carlton is leaned over one of them fiddling with a napkin trying to straighten out the wrinkles as a knock is heard from his door. He runs over to the stove turning off the stove-top. Once speeding to the door, just as Lassiter moves to open it, he suddenly remembers something. The apron! He rips it off throwing it in the hall closet finally opening the door.
Standing outside is a woman, wearing a beautiful sage green dress. Her face seems to light up at the sight of the tall grouchy man, completely juxtaposing the normal energy surrounding him. She instantly raises her arms and hugs him.
"Carlton! It smells amazing in here. I told you, you didn't have to cook anything too exorbitant for tonight, I would have been fine with anything."
"Y/N. Come in. Oh its nothing too fancy, just some steak and..." Lassiter continues giving a much too detailed explanation of the five course meal he prepared.
"Uh-huh, hey Head Detective?"
"Huh, what is it Y/N?" Lassiter says, the worry in his voice evident. His eyes are wide as he looks around, "Who's making you feel in danger? What is-" Y/N reaches up and swipes something from his cheek.
Turning her thumb towards him, she laughs, "Is this...egg?". Lassiter hand flies up, swiping at his cheek.
"I had egg on my face?!" He spins around walking to the mirror on the wall of the living room. The woman follows him into the house, making sure to close the door behind her. Carlton Lassiter's house is beautiful but mostly bland. It is obvious a woman's touch hasn't been in contact with the inside of this house, probably in forever. Except there are a few pieces that don't fit in with the rest of the decoration. A blanket is sprawled on the couch, the colors are a touch too vibrant, with gingham plaid. Lassiter would never buy anything for himself other than tartan plain. And yet, the blanket is out on display. The candles burning have a more stereotypically feminine scent to them, a brown sugar and fig scented one.
"Wow, you actually are burning my candle? Oh my goodness is that the blanket I got you for our three months? I can't believe you actually use it to be honest."
"What? Why? You gave me a gift, I'm gonna use it Y/N." Lassiter walks up behind Y/N, wrapping his arms around her shoulders, "Let's eat hun. That steak won't be good forever."Y/N spins around in Lassiters arms, once facing him she kisses him softly on the cheek, "That sounds like a plan Lassi-nova"
"Oh god Y/N, you didn't really decide to take up on Spencer's advice did you? Those nicknames are so-"
"Stupid I know, but I think they are cute. Oh babe what's with that face? Don't worry, I'd never call you anything crazy in public. I know how you feel about that stuff. Mmm this food though; it looks just as good as it smells." Lassiter just mumbles something under his breath while putting food on his plate like Y/N. With a laugh she lays her hand on his arm. Lassiter is a hard man to get along with, she thinks to herself. Over the many months that they had been together Lassie had slowly softened up to her but he still had leaps and bounds to make. Y/N was determined though, she saw a side to Lassie that she wasn't even sure he knew he had.
