sorry if this bad it is one of my first stories so enjoy!

A fox huffed as it ran towards the peace tree, the large tree being the shelter many animals rushed to in time such as now it was quite a large storm, the wind was strong. To the point where creatures of any size were flung around and trees were ripped from their place.

Curling in itself next to a blue bird that glowed like fire, providing light for the animals there that didn't have the exotic features, it spoke as best as it could with wind whistling and the rain pouring down.

"Are the dragons asleep?" the others tensed at the mention, but the bird only fluttered it's feathers to remove the remaining water from itself, inducing an annoyed growl from a nearby animal yet it ignored the ferocious hyena.

"No, not all of them. They are sleeping in the great cave."

"I see." The fox let out a huff that could have been mistaken for a sigh, and it laid it's head on its arms, closing its eyes to try to rest.

In the mentioned cave. Lay a particularly large dragon with a much smaller figure curled in its tail. As it heard the younger dragons squeaks and growls of laughter, it whipped its head back and sent them a look, gesturing for them to get ready for sleep much to their dismay, but they all obeyed with barely any complaints.

They stalked back to their families, yet all the dragons were huddled with one another except the great dragon elder, and the young little boy she took in araised from birth, who had been taught and treated the same as the other dragons, cuddled together near to the entrance of the cave, staring up at the stars.

"Mama?" The little boy called and the mighty dragon raised it's claw that had been lightly massaging the child's head. The mother opened up her eyes and smiled when the boy squirmed in her grip.

She uncurled the tail that was previously around the freckled child's waist and laid it flat on the ground, allowing the five year old to climb on it and use it to get to her head. Once situated on the dragons head, the little one laid on her belly and wrapped his arms around the mothers head, despite his arms not even reaching to her ears.

"Mama?"

"Yes?" The dragon let out a huff of amusement when her child called her once again and pointed at the sky, somehow still lingered with stars even though the clouds producing the rain even covered even the moon.

"Why can we see the stars when it's raining?" She watched as her child's face scrunched up in confusion, and he watched as his mother smiled at the question, before turning her head to look at all the young dragons gathering around.

The great elder huffed out a gruff laugh and rose her tail, the scale filled tail so large it was able to push them all closer to her. They all growled and howled in happiness, wanting to hear another story as the older dragons from behind could only shake their heads and smile happily, knowing this story and having been told it when they were young wyrens, by the same dragon.

"Tell us, elder asterope!" some of the dragons yelled out, but she only blew out a breath of air to quiet them, since one of them had excitedly blown out fire and gotten one of the other dragons on fire.

"Calm yourselves," The deep calm voice of the largest dragon echoed in the massive cave, silencing all that resided in it.

The dragon, Asterope– or elder Asterope, as they call her– laid her head on her arms and sent a little heat to her son laying on her head, acting as a sort of blanket for the child, yet the small wyren always said he preferred to lay in his mothers embrace.

"Do you know why our island is called what it is?" The little wyrens all nodded while the one on her head shook his head, receiving a teasing growl from one of the little wyrens, that being umbra, also the dragon her son seemed to be closest with.
