It's the day of the three-on-three match, and I'm warming up. "Good morning." The pretty girl from the other day says. I want to think that's what Gilda would look like if she was still alive.

"Is she the manager?" I asked Kageyama but got no answer.

"All right. Let's get started." Daichi yells, getting everyone's attention. "I'll be on Tsukishima's team."

"What? You, Captain?" I found it a little unfair. Daichi probably has more playing experience than Tanaka and both Tsukishima and Yamaguchi have most likely played volleyball for a few years.

"Don't worry. Tanaka's a better attacker than me." Daichi says in an attempt to make it seem fair. That made me feel a little better but we now have little defense. "Though I won't go easy on you either."

"Umm... The little one and Tanaka-san, which one shall I crush– I mean block, first?" Tsukishima says. He knows that it will get us going. "Oh, yes, yes. I'd like to see the King lose too. I sure hope they lose their cool." Come on Emma, don't let his words get to you. "Our special feature is the King, who's been abandoned by his underlings."

"Hey, Hey. Did you hear that? My the things he says. Oh, that Tsukishima-Kun, I'm going to really...crush him to a pulp." Tanka says, also fed up with what Tsukishima has to say.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The whistle blows and Tanaka spikes a ball, scoring us a point. Tanka proceeds to take off his shirt and swing it in the air like a lasso, which I find excessive. On the next serve, the ball goes to Tanaka who receives it. I then run up and jump preparing to spike the ball. I'm so excited. It's my first spike in a high school match. I jump spiking the ball only for it to hit a wall. As I land I see that the wall was Tsukishima. Even here, there are high, high, walls.

"You surprised me the other day too. You sure can jump. If only you were 30 centimeters taller, you could've become a superstar." Tsukishima says. I realized that I gave away one of my cards yesterday. I should've just waited for him to let go of the ball.

"One more," I say. I can jump over any wall. Just wait. "I'll score the next one." Kageyama sends another ball my way only to be blocked again. "Damn." On the next play, Yamaguchi serves, but it hits the net causing us to score a point. It was Kageyama's serve now. "Go, killer serve!" I yell. He does a jump serve, but Daichi receives it. He's an all-around player. No wonder he's Karasuno's captain. Tsukishima serves the ball to Yamaguchi. I attempt to receive it but it goes off to the side.

"Did you think you'd score a few points?" Daichi directs the question toward Kageyama. "I don't have outstanding talent, but I've been doing this a couple of years longer than you. My receive is well integrated into my body. Don't think you can get past me that easily." You can be good at anything with enough practice, Daichi is proof of that. Receives are essential to volleyball, and right now, I don't have the skill to execute them all the time. We need to win.

"Hey, King. Maybe you should start getting serious."

"What's your problem? You haven't stopped getting into our faces since the other day. What's this 'King's Toss?" I stop Tsukishima before he can break down Kageyama anymore. People who insult other people just for the sake of it piss me off.

"Don't you know why they call him King?"

"He's called that because he's so good. The guys at other schools are intimidated by him, isn't that it?" That's what makes the most sense. Tsukishima laughs.

"I'm sure there are others who think that's why. However, his nickname of 'King of the Court' was given to him by the guys of Kitagawa Daiichi. By the teammates of the King. What it means is... He's the egocentric King. The oppressive dictator. I heard rumors but was convinced when I saw that match. He got too oppressive and had to sit out on the bench." I think back to the match I had against him and remembered how he treated his teammates. No wonder they made him sit out. He was not a team player at all. "Do you not use your quick set anymore because you lost your nerve from that match? To make tosses just to have no one jump."
