just friends thats what we are

Emily pov:

I was eating breakfast and drinking tea whilst thinking of what my next poem should be about, maybe about Sue.I love Sue so much and I have dedicated so many of poems to Sue even though my brother Austin wants to marry her but I couldn't give a shit because I'll always love her more than him and she knows that.

"Emily Dickinson,get here right now" my mother called from across the room.

I sighed before standing up to walk over to my mother to see what she wants.

"Everything ok mom?" I asked with a slight  sarcastic look on my face.

"Just checking if you look nice so when you go out later a nice boy might check you out dear" my mother replied.

As she walked away I rolled my eyes at her comment because there is NO way I'm getting a boyfriend because I'm a lesbian, a sapphic,a homosexual and a woman who loves other women but my mother doesnt know and I'm not comfortable telling her yet because she may forbid me from seeing Sue.

A few moments later,Sue arrived at my house along with a few other people and of course my brother Austin just had to run up to Sue before I got to her (which was great).

Sue pov:

As I walked through the door of the Dickinson household,Austin ran straight up to me and lifted my hand up to place a kiss on my wrist which I quickly pushed his hand down as I was  here to see Emily and not him so then I walked away from Austin to find her.

A few seconds later,I saw Emily talking to her sister Lavinia."Hey Lavinia I'm sorry but is it ok if I borrow your sister for a minute?" I asked.

"Sure of course,see you in a bit Emily" Lavinia  replied giving us both a smile before walking off.

A few seconds later,me and Emily walked off to go to her room.I closed the door behind us before Emily asked me something.

"Everything ok Sue?" She asked.

"Yeah I'm good just wanted to see you" I replied giving her a small smile.

"Me? Not my brother Austin who is dying to marry you" she replied in shock.

"No silly,I like you more than Austin I'm being truthful" I replied with a smile.

Emily smiled to me before leaning in to kiss me and then I leaned in to kiss her back and we stayed like that for a minute before we both pulled away.

"Hey Sue,so what are we then?" Emily asked.

"Well...I guess that we are just best friends" I replied.

"Yeah best friends who kiss.No platonic lovers right?" She responded.

"Yeah that's what we are" I replied before we both let out a small chuckle before heading back out to where everyone else was.
