When I opened my eyes again Nate is staring down at me with scared green eyes. I take in a gasping breath and he sighs in relief.

“Oh thank God I thought something had happen. I forget you had never traveled through time tunnels before. Are you O.K? You’re not hurt or anything right?” His concern is evident and its bringing feelings I haven’t even thought about since I first started going out with Noah and we all know how that ended.

“Um yea I’m fine. Don’t worry about me.” He furls his forehead and looks at me as if I’m a new creature he has never discovered. He reaches out a hand to help me of the ground which I hadn’t realized I was laying on. The ground was supposed to be hard but this is soft and smells like flowers but I’m not in the grass. The light bounces off whatever I’m laying on. I slap his hands away and climb to my feet. I look around in awe. I can’t believe I’m really here, I’m actually in heaven. The streets are made of gold bricks and the houses look like they could hold a family of at least ten and still have room for staff.

“Wow.” I can’t even form words and that’s saying a lot for me. Nate just smiles and lets me act like a tourist. It’s better than I could have even imagined. Once again he clears his throat causing me to turn toward him.

“Well I have to go talk to someone really quick and then I’ll give you the twenty five cent tour.” He doesn’t even wait for me to respond and just walks away. Great now what am I supposed to do. I have no idea where I am besides the obvious fact I’m in heaven. I’m not really one for sitting down and doing nothing. Not even in high school I was up at six every morning ready to go and didn’t go to bed until around eleven. A passing girl catches my attention.

“Hey excuse me can you help me?” She smiles nicely revealing perfect teeth to go with her blond hair blue eye appearance. This is the kind of girl everyone assumes is popular.

“Sure what’s the problem?” I smile and explain how I got here and how Nate just left me. When I’m done she looks at me like she knows something important about me that I don’t. I look at her confused

“Your parents are here Jessie. They don’t normally send out other angels to get the newbie’s, they tend to get scared and try to fight it. In fact one nine year old girl once gave the archangel Gabriel a black eye when they came to get her. The only exceptions they make is if your soul mate is here and want to get you.” O.K so that helped absolutely nothing if anything I’m more confused. She just sighs and rolls her eyes. I hate it when people treat me like I’m dumb so she automatically loses points in my book.

“Nate is your mate girl. The other half of your soul is that six foot boy built with pure muscle.” I think my jaw hit the floor. I look at her like she is insane.

“Um I think you have something wrong. The last person who was a love interest in my life killed me.” She just shrugs her shoulders like it’s no big deal. The need to break her perfectly straight nose grows but something tells me violence is not tolerated in heaven. I think she saw the rage in my eyes because she turned and speed walked away. A hand claps onto my shoulder causing me to jump and cry out in fear.

“Hey calm down sis, it’s just me.” I turn and throw myself into the boy who I haven’t seen in eleven years. We just stand there for what feels like five years just hugging. For most people that would be weird but for the first time I feel almost whole. The part that bugs me is that I feel like I’m still missing something, or someone. Man that stupid girl was right. I look up at my older brother threw my lashes.
