Storm's POV
We may have had a victory on the field, but AJ really just had to ruin it by bringing Collin. He even brought him to Jenkins' after party, which is super uncool. I mean the more and more I see them together, the more jealous I get. This is supposed to be my time, we won the first football game of the season by a landslide. Now I have to share the spotlight with the new "hot couple" of our school.
"You've got to let it go dude," Wynter instructed, snapping me out of my thoughts.
"Let what go?" I asked. I tried playing dumb just in case she suspected that I have a crush on AJ.
"Whatever issue you have with Collin. Clearly, you aren't okay with their relationship and I think that's pretty weird." I felt butterflies forming in my stomach. Now is not the time for me to have to come out to someone and no offense to Wynter, but I don't want it to be her.
"I just think there are better people for him." I knew I should just stop talking about him, but I just couldn't help it. He was supposed to be mine and now he's with Collin? What a waste.
"Don't you have like a girlfriend or something? Someone you should really be focusing on?" She was right, my mom always said "'If it's something you can't control, don't worry about.'"
"Hey Stormy! Good job during the game today." I turned around to see Lyric and she gave me a kiss on the cheek. I smiled at her and gave her a kiss on the lips back. She had on strawberry lip gloss that honestly tasted pretty good. It was weird but kinda hot.
"Thanks babe, you looked so good cheering us on." I complimented her. I felt almost bad, but it's true. Lyric is hot and I am attracted to her, she looked awesome in her cheer uniform. Wynter is right, I have a girlfriend and I need to focus my attention on that over AJ.
"Okay, I'm out." Wynter rolled her eyes as she left.
"Bye?" Lyric said as Wynter disappeared into the crowd of people.
"Hey, bud! Nice playing today!" My football buddy Cameron congratulated me, he and my other friend Jaxton had just entered and had sparked a conversation with us. Cameron was our team's best tight end and Jaxton was one of the best kickers in the state.
"Hey! We won thanks to you, scoring all those touchdowns." I expressed. As Coach always said, It's not about you, it's about the team.
"But it was you who led them to victory." Lyric proclaimed as she wrapped her arms around my neck. I wrapped my arms around her waist and pulled her closer to me. Somehow doing this with Lyric felt so right, but so unnatural. Like it was so foreign to me. I had been intimate with girls before, but it never felt as strange as this. It's probably just that like early daters' nervousness or something.
"Thank you, babe." I kissed her lips again and my football buddies groaned.
"Get a room!" I heard Jenkins yell from across the room.
"You first asshole!" I yelled back, he rolled his eyes and went back to talking to whomever he was with.
"Do you think we will have a chance at state this year?" Jaxton asked us.
"Probably, after winning against our biggest competition, there's no way we won't," Cameron assured. He was right, Bridgeport was a super good team and we smoked them. There's no way we won't at least make it into the finals.
"Does anyone want a drink? I'm gonna head to the kitchen to grab something." Jaxton offered.
"Nah, but I'll go with you to give these love birds some space." Cameron winked at me and walked off with Jaxton. Once Lyric wasn't looking, they made annoying grinding and kissing motions at me as a joke. I rolled my eyes at them and returned my attention to Lyric.
