I was greeted by a nurse who brought me breakfast the next morning. She handed me bowl of oatmeal with a smile on her face, and turned to leave.
"Wait," I call out,"What happened yesterday.
She turned around,"it's a long story."
"By the look of it, I have plenty of time."
"Okay," She began,"Yesterday, your friend called 911 and was crying that you had stopped breathing and that you were as cold as ice. By the time they had got there to take you away, you had been blacked out for almost three minutes, they had very little hope that you were going to live. When they got to the hospital though, you survived. You still didn't wake up for almost twelve hours, but at least you were alive. When you finally woke up, we had thought that you had done it on your own, but it was the system that woke you up. The machine hooked up to you as well as the emergency one got fried. That's why you fell back asleep almost instantly. We had to rush you to the nearest open room to hook you up. Especially when you had the little oxygen that you had, we had to rush. By the time we got you to the room we had to hurry and get you hooked up because your body temperature was slowly dropping. Finally we were able to get the system in that room up and save you."
"Wow..." I sat there in silence as I thought of the life or death situation that had happened over the course of that time.
"You okay?" She asked.
"Ya I'm fine," I answer,"I just can't believe that all of that had happened over such little time."
"Okay, do you need anything else?"
"No, I'm good."
"Okay, the doctor will be here in a few minutes to check up on you."
"Okay, thank you."
About fifteen minutes after the nurse had left, the doctor entered my room with my parents. They mumbled back and forth to each other as I pretended that I was sleeping, I wanted answers though. I opened my eyes and mumbled,"When am I going home?"
"It is uncertain yet Ms. Summers," the doctor answered.
"I want to go home though," my voice becomes more stern.
"Savannah, we just want to conduct a few more tests on you. You could be going home tomorrow or a week from now, we will inform you on a later date," the doctor replied.
I didn't have the strength to argue,"Okay," I mumbled.
The next week was full of tests, exams, and more. Finally, like the doctor had predicted, I went home after that week.
