A nightmare based hurt / comfort fic ... what's new lol [I write too many of these]

Another rough night. Liam was finally managing to cope with the time on the plane, and work around it in his mind, until he just seemed to wake right back up in that soft, bright grassy area. He jolted awake, not feeling the blankets and mattress he had fallen asleep on, but rather the all too familiar fake grass of the plane. The second his eyes opened, and adjusted to his surroundings was when the panic kicked in. He got to his feet, twirling around the area he found himself, calling out for Bryce, and only Bryce as he very quickly realized the horrible truth.
He was completely, utterly alone.
Liam couldn't stop the tears from rolling as he stumbled back and fell, unable to do anything else as he curled up, gripping at his handles, and sobbing.
He was never going to escape. This was just where he was destined to remain, wasn't it--

But the plane didn't last. Liam shut his eyes tight as he felt himself being shaken. He let out a yelp, pushing away whatever-- or whoever was shaking him as he scrambled back. Only now did he open his tear soaked eyes to the blurry surroundings, realizing he was still in Bryce's apartment, never having returned to the plane in the first place. Liam moved a hand to grip his chest, crawling further back, until he was against the table, as he wheezed, and struggled to control his breathing. He couldn't even hear Bryce's concerns as he cautiously made his way over to the distressed backpack. The grip tightened as he used his free hand to punch against his head. He felt so stupid-- so selfish for waking up Bryce, for letting his mind go back to that horrible place, why couldn't he just get over with it why couldn't he just--
A hand carefully grasped his, pulling it away from making any more forceful contact with his head. Liam let out a whimper, his eyes still shut tight. He couldn't bear to see the expression on Bryce's face. He was sure he hated him. He was sure he was going to get kicked out for this--
"Liam..? Please, can you hear me?" Bryce's quietly toned voice cut through the static ringing through his ears.
"H...huh?" Liam opened his eyes again, his tone of voice unable to mask how miserable he was feeling in the moment. Through his tears, he studied Bryce's expression for a moment, the silence that stood between them becoming unbearable as Bryce just seemed... Worried? Upset? It was hard to tell. Bryce carefully pulled Liam's hand down to his side, as he took the other one in his free hand as well. Liam still shook as the tears fell, the warmth of Bryce's hands being a nice distraction, and feeling in general, but it wasn't enough. It wouldn't be. His eyes darted down to the space on the floor between the two, too ashamed to make eye-contact.
"Just-- take a moment, okay Liam?" Bryce's voice remained calm, as the two just sat on the floor, and held hands for a moment, Liam just finally managing to control his breathing.
It was silent again for a bit, though this one just a bit more comfortable, as the static in Liam's mind seemed to die down a bit more.
"S...sorry." Liam mustered out, barely loud enough to be considered a whisper, his voice cracking a bit.
"It's... Fine... As long as you're okay?" Bryce squeezed his hand a bit, making sure to be gentle, as he looked at Liam's tear stained face.
"Dunno." Liam mumbled, unable to meet Bryce's gaze.
"Maybe uh... Hm..." Bryce moved his hands away for a moment as he got to his feet, Liam chasing the contact, but ultimately letting his hands fall back to his sides.
"Here, this'll be more comfortable than the floor, I promise." Bryce leaned back down, carefully scooping Liam up in his arms, in which Liam immediately clung to him like if he let go, one of them would vanish again. Bryce couldn't help but chuckle softly as he brought Liam over to the bed, setting him down, but Liam didn't let go of Bryce, letting out a small whine as he tried to pull away.
Bryce stood at the edge of the bed for a moment awkwardly, weighing the options in his mind, and sighing.
"Fine. Just for tonight," He mumbled, though with no malice or frustration. Really, he was fine with the idea, he just didn't want Liam knowing, as he scooted Liam over against the wall, and joined him in the bed.

With all the crying, and movement from his sleep earlier, it didn't take long for the world around Liam to fade away, him now finally falling into a peaceful sleep in Bryce's arms.

Bryce, however, laid awake, staring at the ceiling as Liam cuddled into him. It was such a nice feeling, and he was happy to be here for Liam, but his heart still aches seeing him go through this. The time on the plane was horrible. Having been sent back there felt even worse after trying so long to not remember it. He supposed he couldn't blame Liam for being so scared, he had been there twice, and neither time had been easier.
But Bryce knew he wasn't going anywhere.
He wasn't going to let Liam go either.
