Hadrian had been at the Manor for about five hours now, and dinner was nearing. The family had barely seen him as for he had been within his mind, trying to set up better defenses.
Hadrian looked up as he heard a knock on his door. "Hadrian, dinner is ready. You will be joining us, won't you?"
"Yes auntie. I will be down soon." Hadrian waited for her footsteps to disappear before getting up and changing into black robes with subtle green detailing.
Hadrian made his way downstairs and into the dining, Asmodeus slithering on the ground next to him. Whenever Hadrian arrived, Lucius was at the head of the table with Narcissa to his left, Draco to his right.
"Hadrian. It is nice to see yo-" Lucius froze, his eyes landing next to Hadrian. "Why is there a snake there?"
Hadrian just smirked as he knelt down and held his hand out to the snake, allowing her to crawl up his arm. He then took his seat next to Draco, Asmodeus around his neck. "This is my familiar, Asmodeus. I found her whenever I was nine. She has been with me since."
The family of blondes didn't mention the snake again. The dining room was silent that night as the three Malfoys and one Riddle ate. They all finally headed to bed.
Whenever Hadrian got to his room, he wasn't tired yet. The boy decided to leave the manor and explore the surrounding woods. He decided to find the beach that Draco had mentioned being near their house.
After a half hour of walking through the woods, Hadrian heard the calming splash of the waves, and the salty smell of the water.
Hadrian finally saw the beautiful beach and decided to explore. After about ten minutes, he found a beautiful grotto. Upon entering he saw a beautiful woman sitting in the water, blood spilling around her.
He immediately removed his robes, socks, and shoes and rushed into the water. Whenever he reached her, she was struggling to stay above the water. He grabbed her arms and started swimming to the shallow part of the grotto.
Whenever he pulled her to land, a rainstorm-colored tail was revealed. Hadrian gasped, but immediately returned from his shock and applied pressure to the gash on the woman's side. He felt a hand touch his cheek and look up at her.
"What's your name young one?" She asked, a smile on her lips.
"H-Hadrian." He responded, trying to use his wandless magic to heal her.
"Well Hadrian, I thank you for trying to help me, but I will die within a few days. The object that cut me was dosed in an uncurable poison. Not even magic can save me, though, I do thank you for giving me more time by healing me." Hadrian frowned at the thought of not being able to heal her.
"There has to be a way. I could fetch a bezoar root." He went to get up when she pulled him back down.
"Young one, even a bezoar root won't save me from this poison."
"There has to be something that I can do! I can't just let you die. You don't deserve it." It was a lie. While Hadrian did truly want to help her, he also needed her as an ally.
"Listen to me, Hadrian. There is nothing you can do. I'm sorry." Hadrian nodded before glancing at the sky, his eyes locking on the moon.
"I need to return to the manor I am staying at. Will you come with me?"
The Siren looked taken aback but nodded.
Hadrian lifted her, and she stumbled. "I'm sorry. I don't think I can go. I have never walked before." Hadrian rolled his eyes before taking an hour out of his night to teach her.
Once she could finally walk, that started walking back to the Manor. "I never did get your name." Hadrian said as they approached the manor.
"Cordelia. It means daughter of the sea." Hadrian nodded as they approached the door and walked into the Manor.
He carried her up to his room and laid her on his bed. "You can sleep here tonight. I will take the couch. No arguing. I want to make your final days comfortable." She just nodded as he tossed her a t-shirt. "And here, but this on. I will head to the bathroom to change."
He left for the bathroom and changed into black shorts and a green t-shirt. Whenever he walked back out after brushing his teeth, Cordelia was curled up on the bed, already asleep.
He walked over to the sofa that was in his room and laid down. The last thing he remembered was hearing Cordelia's soft snoring.
