It's a new year and I'm ready to get the ball rolling with work!

For Christmas and New Year's Eve, I took a much needed break from work, but now I'm ready for new opportunities. I'm currently in Atlanta for a concert with all the heavy hitters of gospel music, and I'm super excited that Erica will also be on the lineup.

Aside from work, my friendship with Erica has blossomed into a beautiful one. I quickly realized that we were always friends but I would classify us as "industry friends." Friends that kept in touch from time to time in a professional manner & supported one another's endeavors, but never truly formed a close bond. I didn't really know much about her beyond the surface.

I think our moment in Los Angeles when we hung out and she broke the news of her divorce sealed the deal for our close friendship.

She's honestly the best friend I've always wanted and needed in my life. And just as she has been that friend for me, she needed my support more than ever once news broke of her divorce.

I knew that she and Warryn were going to release a joint statement around Thanksgiving time, but an "insider" broke the news to TheShadeRoom and because divorces are public records, they had no choice but to confirm the news.

All hell broke loose amongst their family, especially between her sisters, but I stood by E's side every step of the way. There were several times when I flew out to L.A. to hang out with her kids to keep them busy just so she could have a moment to breathe.

She's now a single mother so it's all new territory for her and having the public's gaze on her had to be tough.

I was currently in my hotel room about to head out to grab lunch when I heard knocks on the door. I looked through the peep hole but someone on the other side was covering it.

I wasn't about to be no fool so I walked away from the door. The person kept tapping on the door, basically making beats, but I ignored it. I was seriously two seconds away from calling front desk.

My phone started ringing and it was Erica calling. I immediately picked up.

"Hello?"

"Ki where you at?"

"I'm in Atlanta, you know that."

"Yeah but are you in your hotel room?"

"Yes, why?"

"Can you please come open the door? You got me out here looking crazy."

"That's you banging on my door like a crackhead? I should've known." I hung up the phone and went to open the door.

"My KiKiiiii." E exclaimed. She wrapped her arms around my neck. "I'm going to ignore that comment about acting like a crackhead." She added.

I laughed as I closed the door behind her.
