The wind blew softly through the long frizzy, waist-length hair of Eva as she stared up at the old decrepit house in front of her.
The reason she was even here in the first place was thanks to her parents, 8 years ago. Her parents decided that as soon as she had turned 18 they finally wanted to get that divorce they had been aching for since she was just a mere toddler, she grew up with them hating each other-Sleeping in different rooms her entire life practically. When they sat her down after they had already filed the paperwork literally on her 18th birthday and explained to her that they had only stayed together all those years for her so that she could grow up with two parents in the picture, she, understandably, got angry. The flashback of her screaming at them played back in her mind, she had yelled at them, saying they should have just divorced when she was a baby because they were obviously unhappy and would have been better off splitting instead of making her early youth extremely uncomfortable and detached. She remembered how spiteful and emotionally distant the two were to each other, They never acted married unless it was in front of guests or family. It was very confusing to the young mind of Eva, suddenly the truth spitting from their mouths clicked all of it together like a puzzle. It just wasn't fair- To any of them. Living a facade like that was damaging.
Her mother always seemed to have some kind of problem with her, When she began puberty at age 12 it was a screaming fight every night over different things such as how she dressed, how she acted towards her, and the most common reason-That Eva had ruined her life and took her youth from her.
Eva's mother, Sarah Walker, had gotten pregnant with Eva at the ripe age of 16 with her father, Joe Martinez, age 17, and as she could see it was not in her cards. Her mother had explained that she wanted to get an abortion but her father begged her not to, promising to take nearly all responsibility. Once her family found out. an abortion was out of the question, both their families basically pressured them to join together in the union since they were heavily religious.
From then on out there was no actual love in the relationship, Sarah had the little Brunette haired babe 7 months later and her father did all the late-night diaper changes, and all the bottle feeding, her mother only provided the basic milk and occasional nursing, saying "She didn't want to raise a sociopath that would kill her one day."
Eva adored her father from the moment she could remember watching him. He had always been there for her and attended every dance recital, every spelling bee, anything, and everything even though he worked 90 Hours a week since her mother stayed home giving her basic necessities and sticking her in front of a Tv all day or drinking her life away while Eva was at school.
Finally, She turned 18, her mother was finally free of this nearly two-decade curse. They spilled the beans and it was done. Her parents sold her childhood home and her mother announced that if she wanted to contact her it would need to be by phone because she was moving from Washington to Texas with her long-time boyfriend of 7 years and likely getting married. Eva remembered the look in her father's eyes when she announced this, even though he apparently knew from the first day, Eva thinks that he might have still loved her in his own way.
That was 8 Years ago, Eva had moved out about a month after couch hopping, she had fulfilled a longtime wish of hers and entered the police academy. It was definitely one of the worst experiences she could experience as a freshie but after graduation, she decided being a policewoman was not exactly what she imagined so the made the sudden decision to transfer into investigation instead. She had clawed her way up until she was a junior investigator at age 26.
While in the force when she was 24 she met her former partner Gabriel Johnson, aged 25. He was Tall, had a beautiful dark complexion, and was the sweetest man on Earth. They had moved in with each other1 after not even 3 months of dating, even talking about marriage and even possibly having children in the future. Unfortunately, after 3 years of dating, They began to clash with each other. Gabriel wanted to move forward in the relationship, he was ready to settle down and try for children. Eva just wasn't ready for it, she was afraid of falling into the same spiral her mother had and repeating the generational curse, and while they both loved each other dearly they agreed it would be best to part ways.
