Prompt : Write a fic where a character has a pain flare-up in their shoulders
Chronology : Human/College AU
Headcanons : Lapis has chronic pain, Amputee!Peridot, Autistic!Peridot (if you squint)

Lapis got back to her and Peridot's shared dorm after a long day of classes and work with a discomforted expression on her face, immediately alerting her roommate that something was wrong.

"Lapis?" the shorter student asked cautiously as she got off the couch, walking over to her partner. "Everything alright?"

"Long day" Lapis replied in a low voice, her sea-blue eyes squinted from pain. "Shoulders hurt. I think I overworked myself"

"Okay" Peridot responded in an awkward tone, not entirely sure of what Lapis wanted her to say. "How about you sit down and I'll make you something to drink?" she offered. "Or to eat if you're hungry..."

"You don't have to-"

"I insist" Peridot cut her off firmly, growing confident in her decision as Lapis reluctantly sat down on their small couch, sighing in slight relief as the cushion helped her to relax at least a little bit. "Do you want tea or hot chocolate?"

"Tea" Lapis replied. Normally, she would've gone with the latter as it satisfied her sweet tooth, but tea would probably help her relax more, and generally seemed to cool off a bit faster. Peridot smiled, nodded, and got to work.

Lapis flicked on their small television. They couldn't afford cable, but they had a DVD player hooked up so they could watch Camp Pining Hearts (and other things they happened to have on disc) at the click of a button.

A few minutes later, Peridot returned to the main area with a smile on her face and two mugs of mint tea, sitting next to Lapis on their couch and handing her one of the mugs. The amputee set her mug on the side table and put her mechanical arm across Lapis' back. Normally, the chill of the metal would've made the pain worse, but Peridot's arms had conducted some heat while she was in the kitchen, leading to a pleasant warmth spreading across Lapis' back at the contact.

"Thank you, Peridot" Lapis said with a smile, leaning over and kissing her partner on the cheek. "Season two?"

"Yes!"
