There are many ways to wake someone up-- setting a peaceful alarm, gently shaking them awake, opening the blinds, playing duck noises repeatedly, throwing frozen lemons at them, ripping the blankets away so they're shocked into the cold world of reality, blaring a "song" about a worm ten times at once at max volume through surround-sound speakers, etc.
But of course, Wu had to pick the pots and pans.
"Evil doesn't sleep and neither should you!"
Skylar turned towards the wall, burying her face under the blankets with a grumble. Realm let out a sigh and Zap dejectedly sat up, rubbing their eyes, while Harper ignored Wu altogether.
"In order to reach your full potential, we must greet each day as an opportunity!"
"Yeah, an opportunity for more 'death without commitment'," Skylar mumbled.
He ignored that and clashed the cymbals again, this time approaching the white and red Ninjas respectively. Harper grunted and lashed out an arm, trying to silence him, but threw off her blankets anyway. "Okay, okay, we're up. But if you want us to reach our 'full potential', isn't it more logical to allow us a long rest?" she asked grumpily.
Skylar yawned, stretching and cracking her back like fireworks. "Yeah, that'd be nice."
"You rarely sleep in," Wu noted as the four reluctantly got up. Harper growled something irritably under her breath while making her bed with a bit more force than usual.
Zap kicked their blankets off their legs and made their way to the bathroom. "Can't we just have one day to sleep in? We don't even get weekends off. That's not fair."
Realm tried to turn the sink on, but nothing came out. She hit the faucet a couple of times and sighed as it remained dry. "We don't have water yet," Harper reminded the team leader irritably. "This place has been abandoned for gods know how long."
Skylar walked over to Zap's bunk to steal one of their hair ties. "So, Sensei, what's the lesson for today?-"
The floorboards creaked and with a groan, the planks under her feet broke, dropping the white Ninja out of view.
"Fuck!"
A new voice from below, "Hey, Sky."
"Hey, Morro." A cough. "That hurt."
"Are you okay?" Realm asked, peering through the gap. "Oh hey, Morro."
Wu observed the Ninja before him with slight exasperation. "I think today's lesson would be chores."
"Chores?!"
Harper picked a splinter out of her finger. "Ninja fight, Sensei. They don't clean."
"In order to respect ourselves, we must respect our new home and where we are from," Wu said. Zap noticed the red Ninja suppressing an eyeroll. "And this place is a long way from becoming a ninja headquarters. I expect things to be spotless when I return. And put your backs into it," he finished, punctuating his order with another bang of pans.
"You know he's old when he uses phrases like 'put your back into it'," Skylar commented as she re-entered the room, wary of the gap in the floor. "Man, this place is gonna take forever to clean and fix up."
