~*My POV*~

Today, I'm freaking out because in like two friggin' weeks I'm leaving. I've been with the highschool cross-country team, running having a good time, not really thinking about it but, I'm like. WHAT THE HELL!??!?! I'M SO SCARED!!!!!

My friends are saying that I'm overreacting and I probably am, but still. NERVOUS TO THE BONE! I'm happy just, nervous. Too nervous.

I went to cross-country to the park where we practice with the middle school sometimes and today was our coach's birthday. To be honest and not to brag, I was a lot better this year. Anyways, on our coach's birthday we run to Dairy Queen which is two miles from the park. It's one of my favorite runs. When we do a warm up and stretches, high school and middle school meet up at one of the shelters.

"Everyone know the route?" The high school coach says. We all nod. "7th graders follow, upper class men. Let's go!!" We all take off.

I keep a constant pace and reach up to Kylie, Taylor, Victoria, and Sydney. Saying I trained with them during the summer and they're the best freshmen runners, it feels good. And I pass Jackson, the cocky idiot who's fast and I want to throw him into a well sometimes. But the look on his face was priceless. I stick my tongue out at him.

I surge a little and see if the girls catch on. "There's my girl!" Kylie yells from behind me. "Guys, one, two, three, four, five." Taylor nod to me and the other girls. If you don't get what we mean it helps for surging through races to get ahead of other runners and distance yourself. "Random order and say to where." Sydney says.

We jog at a normal pace and then Taylor screams, "TWO, STOP SIGN!" We all sprint up. I passed Victoria and Kylie and reached up to Taylor. We made it to the stop sign, slightly breathless.

The 4-way intersection was busy with too much traffic. I could see the sophomores, juniors, and seniors already across the road. When some of the traffic stops, I yell, "FOUR, ACROSS THE ROAD DEAD SPRINT!!!" And we take off again. We cross the road and we turn back to see Nic, Chris, and Jon laughing hard.

If you still don't get it, there are five of us. Each one of us has a number and we call it out at random times and say where to sprint to. Got it? Okay.

After about 15 minutes from the park, we reach the ice-cream stand. The older people are already there getting ice-cream while us freshmen and middle schoolers are still filing around the corner.  We get our ice-cream and coaches make sure we're all there. Then we start walking back to the park.

I walk with Chris, Nic, and Jon this time. And if you think Nic is perverted, put him with his best friend. It's kind of scary. It gets on the awkward side, because Jon is as equally as awkward and perverted and.....it's just. Wow.

They say these stupid things just to get me angry and it works. Gosh, they're children. But in the end we're friends and we love to make fun of each other.

I know that was pointless and you're probably thinking, "I want to hit this girl with a brick." Yeah well, calm down.

~*August 13*~

For the next two days, I have to start packing. I don't like it. Packing I mean. 4 suitcases. I packed shorts for running, sport bras, fuzzy pants, running pants, shirts, long sleeves, sweatshirts, running shoes, running spikes, socks, my camera, hairstraightener, dream catcher, laptop, you know.....a lot of stuff.

My phone pings;

Come 2 my house today. ik ur busy probably pcking, but come ovr 2day:) ~Kylie

Okay, gonna finish tomorrow:\ See you when? ~IKCy

Come around 5:30. ~Kylie

Alright. I'll ask my parents. Most likely will be able too. ~IKCy

I go out of my room and walk down the hallway to my kitchen, where my mom is cooking.

"Hey, ma?" She looks up from cutting potatoes. "Kylie said she wanted me to come over today around 5:30. Is that okay?"

"That's okay with me, but ask Daddy." she goes back to cutting the vegetables.

"DAD!!!!" I go to the garage since he does woodworking during the summer. I have to shout over the machinery to get his attention. He looks at me  through the goggles that cover his eyes and turns off the machine.

"Can you drop me at Kylie's house?" I say innocently. "Why?" My dad tries to tease me. "Because she wants me to come over for a while." I turn back into the house and change. I put my hair in a messy ponytail.

When I go back outside with my phone, my dad's already in the car waiting.

"Ugh." Dad pretends to be disgusted. I laugh at him.

It's only about 3 minutes from my house to Kylie's. I tell my dad I'll call him when I'm coming back home.

I walk up the steps to her house. I ring the door bell and wait for a few minutes. The door opens by Kylie's older brother, Derek. "Hey, Derek. Is Kylie home?"

"Uh, yeah. I think she's in the basement." He let's me in. I go to the door leading down to the kitchen. Only the staircase lights are turned on.

"Kylie?" I call out walking down the steps. I don't hear anything. "Kylieeeee....." I say in a singsong voice. I reach the last step.

The lights turn on and my teammates from CC pop out from everywhere.

"SURPRISE!!!!!!!"
