~*My POV*~

As I turned around that corner, down the escalator, with Chase following me from behind, I couldn't help think, everything is going to be so much different. I quickly wiped away my tears, looked up and smiled. You know those moving sidewalks in airports? Yeah, I freaking love them. They're just like, fun for kids!

I stepped on it and so did Chase. With not that many people on it, I push through, quickly trying to get to my terminal. My feet padding quietly on the surface of the floor, I felt a rush of drowsiness. My head felt woozy and my stomach was on fire.  I had been through this airport so many times, you'd think that I would be comfortable. As much as I love flying, this time I felt like a little kid lost. No, I wasn't. The sidewalk and the subway within the airport (yes there is one inside. It's flipping amazing) I still found remarkable.

Where the sidewalk ended came the subway entrance doors. I stopped in front of it, just to take a look. Chase pointed at it questionably. I shook my head, pointing further where there was another escalator ahead. I wanted to walk there, wanting to take in every moment, that I spent here. I took another deep breath, again heavily filled with coffee, and walked forward.

I stepped on the up escalator, with a view of so many food courts, restrooms and signs hanging from the ceiling point towards which terminal gate. "Do you have your passport?" Chase said through the silence. I remembered before I left, my dad asking the same thing. I nodded, pointing to the laptop bag, in which it was in. Okay, was all he said.

"So which way to the gate?" I asked him. "Well," he said glancing down at my ticket, "You're leaving on Delta, so.....That way." He pointed to our left. I was taking a transition flight to JFK airport in New York, so about an hour on the flight. Then off to Birmingham and drive to Wolverhampton. We walked in the direction he pointed to. Haha. The one direction. No? Okay, fine. I'll just shut up.

Weaving through crowds of people, here and there, we finally reached the terminal. And for those who aren't familiar with the term terminal  it's like where the subsection of where your gate is. And gate means just where your flight is sitting waiting to take you away. Anyway, reaching the gate, I heard a man's voice on the intercom.

Excuse me, passengers going on the 9:45 flight to JFK, is going to board in 5 minutes. We are going to board in 5 minutes.

Naturally, my instinct was to look at my watch. But I didn't. I didn't realize how slow I had been walking. 5 minutes?! Already?! I knew it was almost 9. I looked around to find Chase, but instead I see him at the desk talking to the people behind it. I walked up behind him. I smiled slightly at them, as they smiled back. As they were talking in hushed voices, I walk over to the window to take a look outside. The sun was starting rise. The hues of orange, pink, yellow, and red melded together beautifully. Birds just starting to fly out.

I took out my phone to capture a beautiful sight. I posted it to Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, all under the caption,'Sun rise at the airport. (:' . Smiling as I posted it, I walked back to Chase, who had finished talking, came up to me and said, "In JFK, there will be someone waiting for you. Since you have to wait quite a long time there." He handed me my laptop bag. I take out a $20 bill and hand it to him.

"No, no. It's fine. You're just a kid." Chase pushing back my hand. "You went through the trouble to walk me here. Just take it, please?" I push back against his. "If I take it, will you stop pestering me?" He shook his head. I nodded, smiling. "Give me your phone." Chase said. "Why?" I asked quizzically. "Because when you come back, I want to see you and I want you to tell me everything that happened." He smiled down. I beamed as I gave him my phone.

Putting both his work and cell number in mine, he hugged and waved good-bye. I lost his bobbing, blonde hair and white uniform within the crowd. I had no time to sit down. They were already starting to board. Passengers going to JFK, we are now boarding. I quickly got in line. Waiting for the officials to scan everyone's passports and tickets. Finally, when they were about to scan mine, a lady asked me, "Did that man tell you what was going to happen?" She flips through my passport, scans my ticket and looked up at me. I nodded. "Yes. There is supposed to be someone waiting for me at the gate in JFK."

"Alright. You seemed ready to go. See you, kiddo." She handed me everything and as I dragged my bag behind me, violin in one hand and my laptop in the other, I started through the ramp thing towards the flight. I edged closer to the plane door. Flight attendants showing me where to go. I was in the back of the small plane. Sitting by the window, snuggled up, I looked out the window. The sky was turning blue. I took out my phone again. I snapped a picture of the plane beside us and the blue sky.

To Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, 'Almost about to leave. Hour till JFK. Sky's turning out nice isn't it? (:' I tried to make them happy and light. I checked my Facebook, seeing many comments from many of my friends and family saying stuff like, 'I'll miss you' or 'Be safe' .

I smile and when I was told turn off my phone, I did. I put my head against the window. The plane exited out of the gate and started it's way to the runway. As it made it's way through turns, we arrived at a stretch of road. The plane started picking up speed. When it got to the right moment, the plane started to move up into the air.  I watched back as I saw Cincinnati airport disappear behind me. And altogether, Ohio.

When we reached altitude, the flight attendants gave us complimentary peanuts and a drink. Drinking my ginger ale, I looked down upon the  clouds. The sky still holding a bit of orange. Before I knew it we were already near New York.

Passengers. We are about to land. Please fasten your seat belts.

I was surprised to hear that an hour had already passed. So I did what the captain said. I fastened my seat belt and waited patiently for landing. As we started our descent, everything passed by me so quickly. The wheels of the plane bounced up and down for quiet a bit, until we reached the gate. When we parked by the gate, the seat belt sign went off, signaling everyone could get off.

I grabbed my belongings and got off the flight. My longest stay would be here. Close to 6 hours. I was still in the same time zone, so no effect on my sleep. When I got off the plane, I kept my eyes glued to the ground, occasionally pushing my glasses up my nose, signaling my anxiety.

As Chase and the flight official back in Cincinnati had said, someone was waiting for me. This time it was a woman named Emma. I greeted her with a hello and told her where I was going. I got to the gate this time really early. I saved myself a seat and walked to the bathroom. I washed my face, feeling refreshed.

Coming back out, I looked around again. The business of the airport was in no comparison to CVG. JFK was obviously much more packed with people. I nearly lost my way back to my flight gate. With Emma close by the gate, I sat down in my chair, taking out a book, but decided not at the moment. I lost myself looking outside the window again. Looking at planes going by. I glanced at my watch again . 11:00. Time had flown by me without me noticing. I got up once again to go get some food. Going around I saw a restaurant that held some coffee and bagels. Handing over the cashier a 10, I walked back over to the gate once more, sipping my decaf coffee. When I finished, I threw it away by the bin beside me. At that point, I felt more drowsiness.

Apparently I had fallen asleep, since the person next to me shook me awake. "We're about to board, child. Please wake up." They had said. Emma had done the same thing Chase had done. She put her number into my phone. As in CVG, I did the same thing in the passport scanning and ticket scanning. I bade Emma farewell and walked through the ramp towards the flight.

This is where my real adventure would start.

        Bring it. I'm ready.
