༺ Operation Heart Stealer ༻

Megara used to consider herself a happy child.

Then her parents divorced, so she was too busy to worry about boys anyways.  With everything around her going on, the young girl began having an identity crisis.  She decided she didn't like the nickname Meg anymore because it didn't sound as edgy or "grown-up".  She started dressing very casual and basic to blend in with the unnoticed crowd of students at East High, her high school the setting for one of Disney's most colorful and expressive originals, making it ironic that Megara on the outside simply... was not.

Her mother became busier as her career of being a real estate agent really took off so Megara and her little sister Rosetta (can you notice she loved Disney?) would stay with their father more often than not.  As soon as the oldest, Petra, turned nineteen, she moved out with her best friend; leaving Megara and Rosetta behind.

It didn't affect Rosetta as much, probably because she was only a child herself when her biggest sister moved out, but it stayed with Megara, who became hurt and blamed herself for the reason her best friend and confidant wanted to leave.  But after she moved out, Petra stopped coming around completely.  And it wasn't long until Megara's mom packed up and moved away, taking Rosetta with her and leaving Megara to live with her dad.

Not like it was much of a choice — if Megara had been given one she would have chosen her dad.  Even though he was a busy man (on the way to being a self-made millionaire, as he put it) he still put Megara first.  Despite the rough road the two were on, they knew they were in it together, and no matter what, they would do anything for each other.  Most of all, they never embarrassed each other.  At least... most of the time.

"Why don't you call up Ricky?" Mr. Montez said as he flew his blazer over his shoulders and thread his arms through the sleeves swiftly.  This was not new, since he wore a suit to work every day.  He took his job as a lawyer (one of the best in Salt Lake) very seriously and had to work twice as hard for his position as he was Latino.  He was very vocal with this to his daughter as he had raised her always to speak her mind and fight for what she wanted.  "I know everyone else is out of town, but Ricky's right around the corner."

"Dad," Megara whined from her spot on their living room couch, laying sideways as she watched a rerun of Gilmore Girls.  It was quite possible Jess Mariano would always have her heart.

But her current state of mismatched fuzzy socks — one bright blue with snowflakes and the other white with tiny snowmen —, as well as a dark blue sweat pant, set dirtied by the constant wiping of her popcorn-buttered-covered hands on her chest and legs, surrounded by an array of snack bowls, dirty paper plates, her Halloween blanket that she forgot to put away, and a can of Mountain Dew on the coffee table in front of her was not normal.  She wore not a drop of makeup (which actually was normal for her lounging around her home) but she sported a stain from her chocolate cereal in the corner of her mouth.  Chex Mix dust was scattered all around her.
