[3rd Person POV]
....
........
............."You guys got it right! The one who is responsible for killing Ikusaba Mukuro was... Kirigiri Kyoko!!"
'...what...?'
The announcement from the monochromatic bear known as Monokuma, entered Y/N's ears. Slowly, it began to eat him up the more it sunk in.
That... wasn't true, he knows that for a fact. But everyone voted for Kirigiri even before Y/N got his chance to tell anyone anything.
Just what does he do now...?
Kirigiri kept quiet, knowing she had lost the fight and soon her life; Naegi Makoto called out her lie and exposed the existence of the Master Key to everyone inside the courtroom.
Y/N's heart sank upon this exposure, he was the one who told Kirigiri of the likelihood that such a thing existed, and even though she also thought of that possibility, she pursued it...
...was it his fault again...?
His last moments with Celestia Ludenburg played again inside his head, how a number of minor mistakes condemned his own friend to murder and death, now, even if Kirigiri didn't kill anyone, she was effectively condemned to death because of the key.
Y/N didn't know that she had the key, only when she spat out the half-truth regarding her room did he acknowledge that she had it, but Naegi seemed to know, and judging by how easy it is to pry information out of him, she probably told him. Now he used that information against the girl.
Granted, she was trying to shift the blame towards Naegi at first, but it didn't matter to Y/N now.
Monokuma announced her supposed guilt, and would soon put her to death via execution.
The whole time of the Trial's aftermath, Kirigiri kept quiet, sparing no more words to the people around her. Despite her cold appearance, she feared death just as much as anyone else, and is now dreading the last few moments she has before her punishment.
She glanced at the Information Broker, who had that terrified look as his expression, staring right at her. She felt her heart shatter before looking away, resolving herself to never look at him again during the remainder of her time alive.
After lying to him, after breaking her promise to him, his trust... How could she look at him? But that expression he showed will be burned into her mind and it'll be what she thinks before her death, she deduces.
The other remaining students tried to get her to tell them anything, but Kirigiri couldn't utter anything due to being wrapped up in her own thoughts and emotions.
Monokuma nabbed back his Master Key from her before letting them finish up the aftermath of the trial.
That's when Y/N heard these words that almost caused him to break down then and there.
"I've prepared a very special punishment for Kirigiri Kyoko!"
The mastermind had successfully framed the girl and was looking forward to killing her off so the game wouldn't end.
Y/N knew then, that he had to do something...
He couldn't muster up the strength to defend Celeste before her death, but now... He's not going to make the same mistake. Even if Y/N wasn't in any shape to do so.
The broker walked towards Kirigiri and stood in front of her as the atmosphere inside the courtroom changed from dread to unsettling.
A fight was going to happen here, and nobody might walk out alive...
