A Fantastical Surprise

"Hey hey!" Jellymon smiles as she floats into the room, excited to show him what she's gotten for him.

"H-Hey, you're awfully excited today," Kiyo smiles, unsure if it's a good thing or not. She is more excited than usual today, and Kiyo is a bit scared by this. What is going on?

"I'm not gonna murder ya!" she reassures him, even though the grin just unsettles him even more. When it's Jellymon, he doesn't trust her.

Still, he has to speak up, or risk being electrocuted. "S-So what's the special occasion?"

"Oh, just wanted to take you out today! I've gotten a lot of money lately!"

"H-how?" It better not be a shady business again. He's noticed her coming home later than usual, and it scares him. She isn't gonna get him in trouble, right?

She grins as she leads him out of the dorm, passing by a confused Hiro and curious Gammamon, not to mention Koutarou and NamaBushomon. He can be seen praying that there is no violence or anything scary. But then again, it IS Jellymon. So who knows?

Of course, Hiro and Koutarou decide to follow them, wondering about what this atypical behaviour of the impish jellyfish Digimon is about.

Jellymon is humming, her body swaying left and right excitedly. She is so glad that she found this place! Darling is bound to like it!

Where are they going, though?

A favourite place of hers... An interactive escape room game. She had lived nearby before, but never noticed it even after moving.

Kiyo is surprised by this. It's not a shopping center?

Jellymon grins. "Surprised?"

"This is...." How... How did she find this?

"Let's have fun Darling!"

.... Wait, there are various options for HORROR levels.

Oh dear. Kiyo goes pale just as Jellymon covers his eyes and guides him inside. This is a scam! Danger danger danger!!!

Jellymon notices and her grin widens. She had already ordered a VERY SPECIFIC room....

What kind of room is it? Kiyo is terrified, but Jellymon lets the blindfold fall off his eyes.

It's... not a horror game, he realises as he looks around. In fact, it looks like they're inside a castle. He can see a menu screen telling him the story of the game. It seems to be an escape room one when an alarm is triggered during a heist, and they have to break out as soon as they can. He's shellshocked. An RPG-styled escape room!?

Jellymon grins as she asks, "Do you like it?"

"I-Is this...?" he shakes.

"Yeah!" Jellymon has a genuine smile on her face as she says this. "Did you li-"

He falls to his knees, shaking like mad, causing her to blink.

She begins to worry. Does he not like it?...

After a while, he finally speaks, "T-THIS IS THE GREATEST, BEST MOMENT OF MY LIFE!"

... Oh. She can't help but giggle at his face.

He looks so happy. "This is a max level open world VR game!"

"It is!" she smiles.

He's grateful, he really is. He doesn't know how Jellymon knew he liked escape rooms games, but... "How did you find it, Jellymon-sama?"

"Long story!" Actually, Clockmon saw it during one of his patrols and told her about it. "But you can have fun all you want, Darling! They have tons of minigames too!"

"Sweet!!!" he's so child-like now. She smiles at this.

"I even rented the entire place out, Darling, so go have fun!" she adds.

As she watches him run around, she's relieved she could make it up to him. She's learnt her lesson after the Greed arc and the Sepikmon mess, and the Toropiamon one. Embracing her partner's pros and cons. Growing more mature. And definitely no more taking her Darling for granted. Each time she sees him stand up for someone, she understands more and grows closer to her partner. Painful, but necessary lessons.

Still, Jellymon is a game-lover too, so the two play together for a few hours while the others wait for them outside. Ruri and Aoi chat while Mika takes care of her partner, and Hiro watches Gammamon and Koutarou play games together as he strokes NamaBushomon's fur. All of them are hoping Jellymon didn't pick horror, since Jellymon is notorious for stuff like that.

When their time is up, and the sun begins setting, Jellymon has to drag Kiyo out because he never wants to leave. "Darlingggggggg!!!!"

"NOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" he clings to the door as he refuses. This is heaven! He never wants to leave.

Getting a bit annoyed, Jellymon sighs and zaps him enough to knock him out. He'll be fine. She's gotten him a lifetime member card here. In hindsight, it's pretty cruel, and Hiro points it out, but she argues, "He can come here any time he wants! Heck, he can even take Gammamon here with him!"

Gammamon claps excitedly at that. Game time with Kiyo is always nice!

Jellymon smiles and pats his head a bit while Ruri asks, "How did you get the money for all this?"

She sweatdrops at that, "Erm, about that... I-I may or may not have made money from teaching various subjects at DigiHarmony. I know that it's not a good idea, but they have enough money! They can stay afloat! Plus, it boosts business there!"

"Still, Mei should never find out. If she does... You're gonna be stuck babysitting for fourty months. And not just the ones at Mei's place," Koutarou points out.

"Isn't that 1243 babies in total!?" she pales. "That's tots crazy!"

"Well, make sure she doesn't find out then," Aoi jokes. "It's not easy. Mika and I volunteered and lost our minds after three months."

Well, Jellymon will ensure it doesn't get out for sure! She makes sure they won't tell her either before taking Kiyo home. It's not over yet, after all.

Kiyo wakes up to the smell of food, dinner to be exact. He rubs his eyes, surprised by the nice smell as Jellymon floats in with a bowl for him.

"Here we go, Darling!" she chirps as she sets it down. It's definitely pretty simple for a meal; a bowl of oden to warm him up since the chilly months are coming soon.

"T-Thank you," he smiles, and as he begins eating, he stops, remembering something. "A-Also, thank you for today..."

This makes Jellymon smile a bit, and she sets herself in front of Kiyoshiro before beginning, "Darling, I know I'm not always nice to you. Heck, I'm downright sadistic to you at times."

His eyes widen at that. "Jellymon... sama..."

She looks down, but then meets his eyes, and he's surprised by the determination, the sheer will behind her gaze. "It'll... take a while. It won't be easy, to change, but I hope that you'll let me stay and be patient with me even if I treat you badly."

Here, his heart soften. That may be true, but at the end of the day, they are partners. They're there for each other. Sure it's not easy. She knows that.

She hopes that she can be better in the future, for her sake, for Darling's sake.

And Kiyo smiles at this too, as he pats her, forgetting briefly that she could zap him. "Of course, Jellymon-sa-"

Jellymon huffs as soon as Kiyo got judoflipped. The nerve of some people! Still, she can't help the genuine smile forming on her face as she remembers what he said.

A small seed has been planted. One of a new start of being partners, a new path for them to walk down together. It may not be easy, but together, little by little, they can overcome it!
