Work continued like nothing happened. For the first time in weeks, you were undisturbed by the rumours as Shanks had held his word in a way. He had stomped out the ongoing whispers, reminding them their own dirty little secrets with a grin and a wink towards most females, their faces growing red. Luffy placed down another stack of paperwork you had to go through, his dark eyes staring at you as you sucked a lollipop, hoping for your insecurities and stress to dissolve like the sweetness on your tongue. "Robin asked me if you could revise these, (y/n)." The younger male started, his eyes darting over towards people nearby before grabbing a chair and sitting down. (e/c) eyes looked over at the stack and the lollipop popped from your lips, fingers rummaging through the documents.

"When does she want them done?" All professional, dignified, when you were concentrating on those tasks ahead, your voice didn't waver as you noticed the documents were for a fusion in departments and thus redistributing clients. Luffy's lips drew a line, his fingers itching in anticipation for something more. He only held the chair tightly, moving to get in your line of sight. "Luffy?" As he still didn't say, you looked up, his face mere inches away from yours in a result of his giddiness.

"They broke up." Shaking your head, you racked your mind for anyone coming to mind as you replayed every rumour one by one quickly. Eyes blank, you didn't know who he was talking about until you realised, Luffy doesn't care about those talks. As it clicked, it showed on your face as shock and Luffy's hands were raised in the air, a huge grin on his face. "Isn't that great?!" He started to ramble about everything Law had, mainly unintentionally as he was kind of drunk, relied towards the younger male. Drowning out everything the younger male said, you dropped your lollipop in disbelieve. Colleagues started to gather at the noise and raising voice from Luffy. "Apparently that girlfriend, Victoria I think, was chea..." You covered his lips with a hand, the information getting too much as water started to gather behind your lids. Luffy frowned, yanking your hand from his mouth, slight annoyance building up in his lean form at your indecisiveness until he saw the first drops of salt water glide from your face.

This wasn't your purpose of it all, having simply given up on this old love and taking satisfaction with the shared child you raised on your own. You could only imagine what Law was going through when he noticed the changes in behaviour Victoria had certainly shown. "Please tell me that's a joke, a bad one." You whispered, others looking on with slight concern flashing in their eyes. "Luffy. Is he okay?" Luffy withdrew just a bit as he watched, his head tilting to the side and brows furrowed. The black haired male looked up, noticing the people gathering nearby to watch the show and grabbed your wrist, pulling you away from your work towards a more secluded room. Once inside, Luffy closed the door, yet held the blinders open before people would start gossiping about that as well. He knew you were already going through too many things. Now, after making sure he had your attention, he explained and you felt horrified with how betrayed Law would feel, the pain of something unimaginable. Luffy, however, assured you that he was fine with it was this situation gave Law a legit reason to break up with her. No words left your lips as the younger male told you what Law had said a couple of days ago, just before the weekend, trying to make sure you wouldn't feel guilty about the whole ordeal. Later, when Luffy pushed you out of the room again, another grin of his adorning his face, he told you to call Law once you had the time.

Sitting in your car, you looked at the message you had written before deleting it time and time again, sighing defeatedly as you dropped your head on the steering wheel. "This is ridiculous." You muttered before your phone vibrated in your hand and you looked at the message directed to you, eyes widening as the male himself had taken the first step. It was a simple message, yet your hope shot up with those three simple words. 'Can we talk?' Trapping your lower lip between your teeth, you felt like a teenage girl again, indecisively in how to answer your high school crush. Eventually you settled on a simple message yourself before throwing your phone on the seat next to you, starting the car and pulling out of the parking garage to pick up your son.
