Due to the fact that first period was just about to end as I grabbed my books for second period, I made an "educational decision" to head downstairs to one of the lower blocks to find one of my other best friends Macey.

Yeah I know, Macey and Lacey, we get it all the time. It pretty much explains our relationship completely though, two peas in a pod. We've known each other since we were in diapers, considering the fact that our moms are best friends as well, needless to say we had a lot of play dates as kids and now here we are.

"LACEY!" She exclaimed when she saw me coming down the hall.

"Hey Mace, what's up?" I asked chuckling a little at her excitement.

"Well as you can tell I'm pretty exciiiiiteeeedddd!" She said stringing out the word in a sing-sing voice.

"Yeah I got that part down," man what's with her today? Usually she's always so calm and nonchalant about things, must be big news for her to get this excited.

"Yeah, yeah whatever, your sour mood is really killing me right now, now BE EXCITEDDDDD!" She practically screamed.

"You know, maybe I would be a little bit more excited if you told me what to be excited about Mace". Gosh I absolutely love her but she has some seriously brain fart-like moments sometimes.

"Oh right, well I just talked to Ashley, who talked to Lauren, who heard it from Brianna that--"

"MACEY FOR THE LOVE OF GOD JUST SPIT IT OUT!"
Someone had to say it.

"Okay, okay. I guess we have this new transfer kid from across the country who's apparently in our grade, male and smoking hot!" She said dreamily.
Seriously?

"Okay?" I asked with lack of excitement.

"Well I was just thinking maybe you should talk to this new guy, go out on a date or something...get to know him...I don't know." Macey said sounding a little off edge.

"And why would you think I need to do that?" I asked cautiously.

"Well you know...after what happened last summer I just thought--" I cut her off, refusing to hear the rest. She acts as if I don't know what happened to me. News flash Mace, I do, I was there and I remember it all...unfortunately.

"I'm heading to second period, Mr.Miller hates it when we're late, I'll see you at lunch Mace." I turned around heading around the corner to the next block over, not even waiting for her response.

As I round the corner I see my class up ahead and look at the digital clock with red print hanging on the wall outside my stop, it read 9:42, two minutes to spare.

I walked threw the class to the middle section and sat in my usual seat off to the left side, closest to the door, I hate when I use the hall pass to go to the bathroom and have to walk all the way across the class and back again, so a close desk near the door is definitely handy. Plus if there's ever a fire or something I'll be the first one out so boom.

I slap my binder, pencil case and biology text book on the desk along with my water bottle and headphones. Often if Mr.Miller gave us in class, independent work or homework that we could do, he let us listen to our music as long as it wasn't too loud and we were doing our work.

Post secondary I would like to attend university and go for a bachelors in science degree so I can proceed to do the job I've been dreaming of doing since I was like 8, nursing. I mean the pay is great, hours not so much but as the years go by they get better the longer you work there, you get to help people and save lives, and it's pretty cool to be able to call yourself a nurse. At the end of the day when I go home I want to be able to come home my husband and dream home and say, "baby guess what? I saved another life today", I mean...it really doesn't get much better than that.
I smile to myself thinking about it.

The bell signalling the start of second period rings and Mr.Miller comes in and immediately starts today's lesson.

We're currently learning about the human body and just about anything and everything there is to know about it. He tells us to flip to page 179 in our text books and copy down a note from one of the pages.

While we all silently copy down the note I hear the teacher cough rather loudly, "Ahem, students this Ryder Jamison, he just transferred to this school from a different city and just so happens to be enrolled in one of the best classes ever if you ask me, please do your best to make him feel welcomed, thank you". I don't even bother to look up as I finish copying the rest of the note down but I hear Mr.Miller whisper for Ryder to take a seat next to me, oh great, I get to babysit the new kid.

Of course Mr.Miller would put him beside me, I mean, not that I want to brag or anything but I have a 97% in this class and I don't even have to try.

I hear the new kid claim the empty seat to my right and fumble around with his belongings.

I'm just about done the note when I hear him ask, "yo, can I borrow a pencil or pen or whatever you got over there sugar?".

I drop the current pen I was holding and froze in place.

No...it can't be.

I close my eyes and take a deep breath before turning my head to face the new kid.

"Holy f--" I get cut short by Mr.Miller when he asks the class if we're all done copying down the note.

"So, how bout that pen sugar?"

I snap back to reality when I hear his husky voice whisper in my ear. I'm still frozen in my spot and can't seem to find my voice.

"You..."

It was him.

Him.
