Hey!!! Thanks for reading, make sure to vote and comment! And DM me whenever. I'll try to post regularly but I also have 2 other books I'm working on so I might do a chapter for each every week? Let me know your thoughts. Thanks!!
Stiles had dropped me at home after our encounter with the mystery hunk in the woods, and as much as I wanted to lie down and die until tomorrow I knew I had to study, Though as usual, I'd decided to do something completely different.
I was looking up the Hale family stiles had mentioned, and sure enough, Stiles was right. The whole family had tragically passed in a house fire a few years ago, Derek, The man we saw is one of the only survivors. Why the hell was he back?
Nothing good I'd imagine.
"So she said yes to the dance?" Scott and I were walking down the halls of Beacon high, discussing Lydia's newest party. The girl really outdid herself with her parties.
"Yep!" Scott was practically skipping next to me. Good for him.
"So does her having just hit a dog count as emotional duress or?" Fine, maybe I was a little jealous. Not of Scott, Or Allison for that matter, But finding someone I could go to a dance with. Why was dating so damn hard?
"Oh hush" Scott replied bumping my shoulder, he was trying to be gentle on me. I hated pity, And since when did I start looking so lonely? "Y'know, I can always ask Allison if she wants to come with me and you as a group, if you, y'know, don't have anyone to go with" Scott was sweet, but no way was I ruining his chances to go to some stupid party, Also the idea of standing between two sexually charged teens made me wants to hurl.
"No chance in hell Scott, you go and have fun" He just smiled back, clearly happy I had said no, not that he would ever say that. Unlike Stiles, Or most of the douchey assholes in this town, Scott was kind, and a good listener, sometimes. I'd always thought that would make him a good leader, But he never applied himself enough anywhere to fully realise that. Most likely due to his father leaving.
The moment, it turned out, was abruptly over as a pissed-off Jackson slammed Scott up against a set of lockers. How typical of you Beacon Hills.
"All right, little man. How 'bout you tell me where you're getting your juice." As serious as Jackson seemed, I get the feeling Scott was going to say something stupid.
"What?" Scott looked reasonably terrified.
"Where. Are. You. Getting your juice" Jackson was practically frothing at the mouth, clearly outraged at Scott developing a sudden talent for lacrosse.
Scott looked utterly bewildered, like a deer in headlights but more terrified "My mom does all the grocery shopping" he managed to get out
And there was the stupid line that could only be delivered by Scott McCall.
Both Jackson and I stared at Scott for that, unsure if he was messing with Jackson or something sadder. Jackson was sick of him though
"Listen, McCall, you're going to
tell me what it is and who you're buying from. Because there's no way in hell you're kicking ass like that on the field without some sort of chemical boost."Honestly, I felt kind of bad for Jackson. If I had one thing in the world I was the best at and somebody who was probably doing drugs suddenly overshadowed me I'd be pissed as well, I'd always thought Jackson was deep down a nice guy, he just didn't know how to express it. That or he was a snake the whole way down.
"You mean steroids?" Scott, apparently only now getting the message "Are you on steroids?" He probably was.
I normally would have said something, but I had the feeling if I stopped it this might get worse for Scott.
Jackson grabbed Scott and slammed him up against a locker, again, maybe I should intervene. "What the hell's going on with you McCall!"
"What's going on with me? you really want to know? So would I. Because I can see, hear and smell things I shouldn't be able to see, hear or smell, do things that should be impossible, I'm sleepwalking three miles out into the middle of the woods and am pretty much convinced I'm going completely, totally out of my freaking mind." Scott snapped back at Jackson, clearly overwhelmed by whatever was happening to him.
Jackson seemed ready to back off after that "You think you're funny? I know you're hiding something. I'm going to find out what it is. I don't care how long it takes." He slammed his fist against the locker as he left, clearly trying to save face after Scott's very public outburst. I just glared at him.
"Are you, like, okay Scott?" He just looked at me.
The school day had been rather uninteresting since earlier, and after a few soul-sucking classes we were yet again back at school for Scott's lacrosse match. Stiles and I were both on the team as well, but I didn't care about it and Stiles sat on the bench.
I had changed into my gear and was mostly just bumming around until I saw stiles running towards Scott and figured my life could use some drama.
"Scott, wait up! You gotta hear
this." Stiles was extremely hyperactive and it showed whenever he did literally anything."I'm playing the first elimination,
Stiles. Can't it wait?" I've had the feeling that ever since Scott suddenly became good at lacrosse, he was starting to become a bit of an ass, like Jackson."Maybe we should listen to stiles?" Scott just huffed at me.
"Just hold on. I overheard my Dad on the phone. The fiber analysis came back from LA. They found animal hairs on the body from the woods." Stiles seemed like he was genuinely concerned about this, and he had casually recruited me to go on a dead body scavenger hunt the night before, which meant it was probably serious. "You're not going to believe what the animal was--"
Scott, who had impatiently been darting his head back and forth between Stiles, me, and the field suddenly tightened his helmet and rushed off to the field.
"It was a wolf" Stiles dejectedly trailed off
"Since when did Scott become such an ass?"
