"Happy Birthday!" I yelled, apparently too loudly as Allison almost punched me in the throat while moving to cover my mouth with her hand.
"Blech, why?"
"Because I don't want people finding out it's my birthday" She spoke, her eyes darting across the hallway as if every other teenager here wasn't hopelessly self-absorbed.
"Why? Was it a Party clown-related tragedy?" Allison didn't find that very funny. Did teen girls usually not like birthday attention?
"It's your birthday?" Scott spoke, now walking towards us as Allison opened her locker to reveal a shocking amount of balloons. "And why do you smell different?"
Scott asked, squinting his eyes at me as he discreetly sniffed the air around me.
"Different how?" I asked, now concerned I smelled bad. Surely he couldn't smell Derek on me, right?
"I don't know, just... different." I needed to change the topic before he figured it out.
"I have to hand it to Lydia, I did not think all of those balloons would fit in there." Stuffing Allison's locker with enough balloons to give Emmet Kelly an erection had brought me and Lydia closer, not as close as we used to be. But closer.
"No. I mean, yes. But don't tell anyone. I don't even know how Lydia found out." Allison said as she failed to shove the balloons back into her locker.
"Why didn't you tell me?" Scott seemed a little understandably hurt.
"I don't want a lot of people to know. Since I'm seventeen." I had known she was seventeen all along, due to my regular internet background check on everybody I met. What? It's so not creepy.
"You're seventeen?" Scott seemed surprised at that. I must've forgotten to tell him. Though I've been sort of avoiding him lately, for..... reasons.
"And that's the reaction I'm trying to avoid." Allison clearly wasn't enjoying having all of this exposed to her boyfriend to whom she'd lied about her age. Was this my fault? oh well.
"Why? I get it. You had to repeat the year because of all the moving around, right?" Scott was adorably understanding. She probably could've just told him from the beginning.
"Or she took the short bus to school today" I snickered, only to be met with a slap to the back of the head, while Scott got a kiss.
"What was that for?" Scott asked, still happily dazed from the kiss.
"Yeah? What gives?" I, on the other hand, was not dazed. More concussed.
"For literally being the first person to ever make the correct assumption. Everyone else says "What? Were you held back? Are you stupid? Did you take the short bus?"
Is it bad that made it funnier?
"Hey! if you're older than me, that makes you a child abuser right now. Shame" Was I going to spend Allison's birthday annoying her? Yes. Yes, I will.
"That's what you hear on your birthday?" Scott was so sweet to her. Now I just want to annoy her more.
"Yeah, with all the pill-popping and butterscotch pudding, that must make the nursing home unbearable." I feigned concern, while Allison waxed annoyance.
"All day long," Allison replied, ignoring my jabs even though she was looking right at me.
"Then... what if we got out of here?" Was Scott trying to seduce her right now? In these halls? whoever founded Beacon Hills is rolling in his grave.
"Skip class?" Allison looked almost... excited by this sudden wave of rebellion.
"The whole day." Scott grinned
"Wow, and skip out on all of my fun birthday jokes? She would never."
"You're asking someone who's never even skipped one class to bail on an entire day." So Allison was as much of a goody two shoes as she seemed.
"See, that's perfect. If you get caught they'll go easy on you." Wow, Scott was really pushing for this.
"Or you'll be burnt at the stake." Just my two cents
Allison rolled her eyes, as she and Scott rushed away, desperate to get away from Beacon Hills High.
"I will not be denied, Allison! You will hear my Jokes!"
Stiles and I took our seats in Chemistry, with the dreaded Mr Harris. Funnily, Mr Harris very much liked me, because of my natural aptitude for the subject. I didn't like him though.
The way he talked to half the students, including Scott and Stiles, made me secretly hate the man. Not that I'd say anything. Grades and all, but I still physically cringed at how he talked to my friends.
Almost on cue, the man had to publicly shame Scott.
"Just a friendly reminder: Parent/Teacher conferences are tonight. Students below a C average are required to attend. I won't name you since the shame and self-disgust should be more than enough punishment. And has anyone seen Scott McCall?"
Nobody bothered to respond, especially since all he'd be doing is bitching to their parents tonight about their 'lacklustre' performance in his class.
I'd gone into this year ready to keep my head down and work harder in school, but now I was caught up in a supernatural spiderweb and bedding werewolves.
Speaking of Derek, I hadn't actually 'bedded' him, per se. When we had actually gotten back to my house, and up to my room, there was a fair amount of making out. But something weird happened.
"Hey, Danny" I whispered to the boy who was just one seat ahead of me to the left.
"What?" he whispered back, but it was more of the oddly common whisper-yelling I'd been doing now, what with all the supernatural stuff existing.
"If you and a guy are making out, and then he, like, falls asleep, what does that mean?" Danny was the only other gay person that I talked to, and he was known for sleeping around, so I figured he'd have an answer.
I honestly had no clue what to do at this point. Usually, I had some sort of idea when something happened, even when Scott became a werewolf or I had to cut Derek's arm off, but not this. What can you do when your maybe hookup falls asleep before the actual hook-up. Then totally disappears in the morning.
"Sounds like he isn't interested" Stiles was most definitely listening to this exchange at this point.
"Like in me or... In me" I awkwardly asked, gesturing to my crotch for the second part.
"Well, you better hope it isn't the second, though It's usually the other way around." He seemed done with talking to me at that point and went back to his chemistry book. Perfect timing for Stiles to swoop in and start questioning the boy himself.
How the hell did relationship drama become more complex than Mr Harris's chemistry class?
Hey guys, this chapter feels a bit short to me (1.2K words somehow), and really didn't cover much, but I want to get something out before I go to bed. The next chapter shall compensate for this, I promise!
PS. Please interact with this chapter! Theres been a huge increase in interactions already, but I'd love for that number to increase, as my dumb brain wants to update even more when I see more people like the story. Thanks!
