Young Woo opened her eyes slowly and scanned her surroundings. Everything around her is white. From the walls, to the curtains and to the blanket that covers her body. She felt numb and lightheaded and there's something covering her nose and mouth, a breathing support. She raised her hand to see the bandages on her arm and even though she can't see her legs, she bet they are wrapped in bandages too.

"Young Woo!" She heard her father cry. "How are you feeling? Should I call the doctor?" His frantic voice is also making her worry, "was I in a very bad state for him to act this way?" She thought.

"I..." she trailed off, the dryness of her throat making it difficult for her to speak. "I..don't feel any pain." She managed to utter. "What happened?"

Gwang-Ho explained everything, from the moment she stepped out of the restaurant to follow her mother, the instant she was hit by a truck and was rushed to the hospital.

"Atty. Tae Su-Mi?" She murmured blinking several times.

Gwang-Ho bowed his head and clenched his fists. How could he tell his daughter that Tae Su-Mi left without even checking on her before she went. "She was the one who brought you here because I was unable to. It took me hours to recover from my shock and I also fainted. I thought I lost you."

"She... brought me here?" Young Woo repeated trying to make sure she heard it right. "Atty. Tae Su Mi?"

Gwang-Ho nodded. "I'm sorry she left without seeing you."

"It's okay." She blurted out to stop her father from feeling sorry for her. She doesn't expect anything from Atty. Tae Su-Mi, she survived without her in her life and she won't start hoping now that she would take the role of a mother, especially that she is now an adult and trying to be independent. Though it hurt sometimes to think that she wasn't able to feel what it was like to have a mother more painfully so when her mom is alive and well. But at least she got to know her and despite what she did in the past, she believes that she is a good mom, well, at least to Choi Sang-hyeon.

Within the next three days, her colleagues in Hanbada and close family friends visited her and made her feel that she was loved. Jun-ho was also there providing support for her fast recovery. The truck driver was caught and jailed and facing charges that may put him behind bars for the next couple of months.

When the doctor came to check on her, he was amazed by how fast she was recovering.

"We almost lost you in the operating table due to severe hemorrhage." The doctor said, "To make matters worse, you have the rarest blood type and the blood bank has limited supply with AB negative but thankfully, you share the same blood type with your mother and she gave more than what is permitted."

Gwang-ho and Young Woo exchanged glances. Totally dumbfounded by this revelation.

"My mother?"

"Yes. Tae Su Mi, right? That's what she wrote her name was. She said you are her daughter."

Both father and daughter are silent for a moment, still processing the information.

"Anyway, you are cleared to go home but I advise you to stay a couple of days at home at least until your cast is removed."

When the physician left, Gwang-Ho sat beside Young Woo. "Dad, Atty. Tae Su Mi is not that horrible of a person, don't you think?"

Though in the eyes of the world, Tae Su Mi may be the worst mother ever. But to Gwang-Ho, she was selfless. And he regretted telling her how selfish she was for ignoring them all these years and living the life she'd dreamed of. But Su Mi gave birth to their daughter risking everything, her reputation, her dreams, even her life.
