There are simply no words

That weekend, Lucas and Michael both miraculously had a day off at the same time. Michael and I were peacefully hanging out in the living room, him reading Sherlock Holmes: The Study in Scarlet, and me reading a sci-fi novel Aurora Rising. Lucas was doing god know's what until he randomly burst into the living room, slamming the door against the wall. Which coming to think about it was probably not great for the door or the wall. Due to his rather sudden appearance, I sneezed very violently and Michael dropped his book.

"Ever heard of knocking?" Michael grumbled as he reached down and leafed through his book finding the page he was on.

"Or entering normally?" I added.

Lucas just ignored our comments," I just had an incredible idea."

"Oh dear god, what?"

"Is it something that's going to almost burn the house down?"

"That was one time. ONE TIME!"

"Do we have to run around like maniacs in the pouring rain outside?"

"That was also the one time where I forgot the laundry outside."

"Do we have to act out A Midsummer's Dream in April?"

"Will you guys just shut up and listen?!"

"Rude."

"Fine. What is it?"

"We are going to have a card/board game afternoon with snacks," he finally admitted.

Yes, he actually said slash in case you were wondering.

So that was what we were doing two hours later courtesy of my older brother's persuasiveness.

"That's not the way you play that card Michael!!" Lucas groaned, gently hitting his forehead against the table. Meanwhile I was slowly dying out of laughter.

"But with the plus four card you can play it any time during the game," Michael attempted to defend his case.

"No, you can only play it on your  turn."

"Yeah right, I'm checking the rules."

  I was still dying.

"God damn it! The rules are in German!!"

"No shit Sherlock. You're the one who bought the flipping Uno game in Germany for god's sake!"

 "Did I?"

 "Yes, remember that business trip?"

 "Oh."

"Now you realize."

God. I couldn't take it anymore. Thump. Because I was laughing so hard, I had fallen off my chair and I was now continuing to die on the floor. My brothers turned to face me and when Lucas saw me on the ground he started to laugh as well. Michael just continued trying to figure out how to actually use the plus four card correctly but I saw that he was trying very hard not to smile as well.

"All this over a stupid card," I wheezed, ( very ) slowly recovering from my laughing fit.

"I still think I'm right," muttered Michael who had given up on trying to decipher the German by himself and was now using Google Translate. "Darn it you were right Lucas."

Lucas pulled me up quickly and started chanting, "I was right! I was right! I was right!"

"Such a bloody child," Michael shook his head.

................................................................

That evening, once I had been forced to go to bed since I had training the next day, Lucas and Michael were in the kitchen. Lucas was baking midnight walnut brownies while Michael was flipping through the Irish Times. He abruptly stopped at page thirteen.

 "Jesus motherfucking Christ!" He cursed.

"What happened? Did you get a dreaded paper cut?" Lucas rolled his eyes while pouring the brownie mixture into a pan.

 "Read this," he instructed.

"Can it wait, because all i have to do is-"

 "No it can't."

Lucas huffed and plonked himself down beside Michael who handed him the article.

Who is next?

Yesterday at 7:32pm the girls missing from the 29th of March were found in McGrath's Field, Knocknacarra, Galway in an unrecognizable state. Elizabeth Ryan, Matilda Ryan and Jane Kelly were reported missing after they never returned from playing together in the field area of Coláiste Muire Máthair . They were all brutally attacked, Elizabeth's heart was ripped out, Jane's brain was gone and Matilda's chest was torn open. We have absolutely no leads on who caused this terrible ordeal. But it seems as if  County Sligo is the only county left in the entire country that has not been attacked, will they be fortunate or will we be conducting more searches for girls who just turn up dead?

"Bloody hell. Those poor girls. The journalist is right, isn't this the 25th report?"

 "Unfortunately yes."

"All the girls that have been attacked are all around Anna's age and Sligo is the only county left."

"Again yes, there is a very high chance that our little sister could be in grave danger along with the rest of the teenage girls in the county."

"There are simply no words to how flipping scared I am for her Michael."

Soooo..........that is ever so slightly terrifying for me to read even though I am the bloody author.

Just a small reminder: only the places in this story are real. The names are completely made up. I apologize if for some odd reason they are very similar to yours. ( Except to some people who know what on earth the background is of somethings I write. 😉)  Some characters may be based to some degree from people I know from my life outside of writing. But that is all. Kay?
